🇺🇦 Selenskyj stellt klar: Über die Größe unserer Armee entscheiden wir selbst!

Der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj will die Stärke der ukrainischen Streitkräfte weder mit Russland noch mit den USA verhandeln. In einem Interview am 25. Oktober erklärte er, die Truppenstärke sei eine innere Angelegenheit der Ukraine.

Sein Ziel: eine Armee mit 800.000 Soldaten, sofern die Finanzierung gesichert ist. Bei einem NATO-Beitritt könnte die Truppenstärke nach seinen Worten auch geringer ausfallen.

Selenskyj sieht eine NATO-Mitgliedschaft und eine starke Armee als zentrale Sicherheitsgarantien. Begrenzungen der Streitkräfte oder eine Neutralität der Ukraine bezeichnete er als rote Linien bei Friedensverhandlungen.

Damit wird ein zentraler Konflikt möglicher Friedensgespräche deutlich: Russland könnte militärische Beschränkungen verlangen, während Kiew verhindern will, nach einem Waffenstillstand erneut verwundbar zu sein. Eine Armee dieser Größe wäre allerdings auch langfristig eine enorme finanzielle Belastung – für die Ukraine selbst und möglicherweise für ihre Partner.

Kann ein dauerhafter Frieden funktionieren, wenn eine Seite Abrüstung fordert und die andere gerade darin ein Sicherheitsrisiko sieht?
