CLARITY ACT: KEY HEARING ON MAY 14

The U.S. Senate Banking Committee has scheduled a crucial hearing on the Clarity Act for May 14:

The bill aims to create a full regulatory framework for crypto in the U.S.

A compromise on stablecoins has been reached: passive income like bank deposits is prohibited, but staking rewards and active transaction rewards are allowed.

If the committee approves — Senate vote in early June.

Over 100 amendments have been filed.

US INFLATION IS HEATING UP — CRYPTO UNDER PRESSURE

On May 12, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released April CPI data:

Inflation rose to 3.8% annually — the highest in 35 months

Core inflation (ex-food & energy) at 2.8%, also above forecasts

WTI oil held above $100 amid tensions with Iran and the Strait of Hormuz situation

After the data drop, open interest in Bitcoin derivatives fell by $1.25B.

UBS already pushed its Fed rate cut forecast to December 2026 and March 2027. Previously, September was expected.

❗️ Takeaway: The market is pricing in a "higher for longer" scenario on rates. That puts pressure on all risk assets. But the drop in open interest isn't always a bearish signal — it could just be a repositioning before the next move.
