Discerning my call as a college kid, I wanted to serve God in a way that was:
1) creative
2) less morally fraught than government or corporate work
3) likely to provide a stable living.
To college me: you will definitely get to be creative.
I'm baffled by folks who don't appreciate public transit as a concept. You're telling me I can get nearly anywhere in NYC during rush hour faster than by car, without having to park and often underground while life just goes bustling on above the surface? That's magic, people.
Does anyone else sometimes feel like they are below average at reading people? Like, not completely out of touch, but probably missing out on at least some of the conversation that isn't happening out loud?
21st century toddler tactic: fussing is old news. If you intentionally cough when you're upset your parents will pay SUPER close attention to you. #LivingLars
Weird how people complain about schools not teaching "basic life skills"...I mean, we did learn that you can get the hang of multiple skills per year if you have a mentor and focus on it...
Vaccinated friends: I'm pretty sure everyone who genuinely cares about our opinion is already vaccinated. What will kill many others (and their children) is having no sane person to turn to. We need more varied connections, not more mockery and tribalism.
Mark is the shortest Gospel by 4,000 words. Just bare bones. Yet of the three accounts of #Jesus stilling the storm, only Mark says "other boats were with him." Seems like those other boats are important.
God created us for communion, for fraternity. Now more than ever the pretense of focusing everything on ourselves, making individualism society’s guiding principle, has proven illusory. We have to be careful! When the emergency is over we can easily fall back into this illusion.
Please pray for our congregations and neighbors in the path of the #CarrFire in California. @ELCALDR is working with Lutheran Social Services of Northern California and the Sierra Pacific Synod to respond. https://t.co/uIYGyc0AyO
