My favorite blog post was about student motivation. This was my favorite because I had the opportunity to explore the idea of challenging students in independent reading. #yalitclass

My favorite module this semester was Week 8 about diversity. This module really showed me how important it is to read diversely, and my reading habits have changed since! #yalitclass
My biggest takeway from this class is that reading frequently and diversely is a great way to get to know yourself. This is why it is so important for students #yalitclass
If I could make one change in 7-12 ELA classrooms across the nation, it would be to get rid of the idea that independent reading has to be tested and quizzed to death. #yalitclass
If I could change one think in English classrooms, it would be the amount of independent reading. IR is when students fall in love with reading. If we don't give students the chance to read independently, they won't become lifelong readers. #yalitclass
I think extrinsic motivation is popular because teachers are scared their students won't read without them. If we show students how incredible reading is, these rewards won't be necessary. #yalitclass
It's problematic to tie reading to rewards because it destroys intrinsic motivation to read. Reading is so beneficial and enjoyable that we shouldn't have to give our students rewards for doing it. #yalitclass
My little sister will definitely be my summer reading partner. She LOVES reading YA books I suggest. After I finished The Hate U Give, she finished it in less than two days! #yalitclass
