Everyone wants the freedom trading gives. Almost nobody wants the years of silent work that come before it.

That gap is exactly why "pass your eval in 2 days" content sells so well.

It's not selling an understanding of the markets or a proven strategy. It's selling a shortcut around the suffering. A way to skip the part that actually builds you.

But the market doesn't work like that. You can skip the eval with luck. You can't skip becoming the trader who deserves to earn money from trading (consistently).

The work you avoid is the work that would have made you consistent.

There are no shortcuts. There's only the gap — and whether you're willing to cross it.

Someone asked me how to be disciplined in trading.

Here’s the truth: you’re asking the wrong question.

Discipline is not the starting point. It’s the byproduct.

You can’t be disciplined about something vague. If you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for — the specific conditions, the specific levels, the specific confirmation — there’s nothing to be disciplined ABOUT. Every session becomes a negotiation with yourself.

So the first step is not willpower. It’s precision.

Build a detailed model. Define exactly what you trade, when you trade it, and what needs to be true before you execute.
Once your data proves that what you do works, following the plan stops being a battle. Why would you deviate from something you KNOW is profitable?

That’s where discipline actually comes from. Not from forcing yourself. From certainty.

And second: protect yourself from your worst days. Flawless risk management and hard limits set at your broker. Max daily loss. Max trades per day. Because there will be sessions when your mind wants to take over — and on those days, the system has to be stronger than you.

Discipline is not the cause of profitability.

It’s the consequence of knowing exactly what you’re doing.
