Grande Hotel in Beira, Mozambique was one of the most luxurious hotels in Africa. It had an Olympic pool. It opened in 1955 but was abandoned by Portuguese in 1974. It later served as an army base and a prison. The Hotel is now a small slum hosting about 3,500 people.
