It’s like riding a roller coaster.
It provides a controlled and safe environment in which a person is given leave to explore sensations that would normally be dangerous and unpleasant, with minimised risk but retaining potential for catharsis.
Another symptom of how little diversity there is within the industry. Majority of devs are still white millennials so that’s the type of dialog you’ll get.
Was discussing this with a friend, but with Backrooms specifically, maybe a spoiler but this is just a take...something terrifying about a shared consciousness that's building and expanding, a mimicry of our reality but it's totally jumbled and fragmented, not unlike the internet
@girldrawsghosts Trump 1 was an era of post-satire, an endless clown show that made pretensions of cynical wit look ridiculous. Trump 2 on the other hand has been a vindication of the crudest, most over the top satire of the 80’s. We’re living in the prologue of a Judge Dredd comic.
'Andor' creator Tony Gilroy's Peabody Awards Acceptance Speech:
“We spent six years contemplating a fascist takeover of a galaxy far, far away. Six years thinking about what happens to ordinary beings when an authoritarian, insane, unchecked regime comes into the deal, and the show is really kind of what we learned"
“If you’re not willing to fight for the things that you love, your family, community, your culture, your planet, your truth, freedom, there’s an asshole ready to come in and take it away. We learned that bravery and sacrifice and resistance comes in all shapes and sizes, and we learned that courage is contagious"
“There’s so much is happening, it’s a fire hose of crap that you just can’t get through. And here we are. There isn’t a new cycle that goes by right now that doesn’t contain a variety of outrages that in any other time in our history in America wouldn’t be grounds for treason"
“Please do not stop. Please do not turn out the lights until we can kill this nightmare… and fuck the Empire!”

“Just so you know, agriculture uses more water than data centres and golf courses combined.”
Yes, but we have to eat. We don’t have to use AI or play golf. This is a useless argument.
Honestly do enjoy how First Light is an AI story but it’s not the usual ‘AI goes evil and tries to take over’ and instead ‘it’s a flawed system that makes mistakes but it’s run by a bunch of idiots who can’t accept that fact and try to force its use regardless’
Finished the Bloody Baron questline.
This quest, this single quest line, is one of the most phenomenally written things in gaming.
It's a dark tragedy, one that has no happy ending.
You see remorse, sadness, anger, regret, hate and love and it's all handled with a gritty realism that mirrors the world of The Witcher.
Its a masterclass, and is one of the many high points the Witcher 3 offers.

Just occurred to me this is the first time in my lifetime I can remember a billionaire funding a valuable public works project. Andrew Carnegie funded like 2000 libraries alone lol
The opening of Spectre (2015) is so good it almost tricks the brain into thinking the entire movie is about to be a masterpiece. That Día de los Muertos tracking shot through Mexico City is pure Bond flexing for five straight minutes.
