Partisan politics has taught you double-speaking.
Sports banter trained you in mockery and hate speech.
Comic contents emboldened you towards irreverent and idle words.
Gist with friends helped you normalise trash-talk and gossip.
But you claim to read the bible, probably also occasionally preach the gospel, and you often use those lips in prayers and blessings.
Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water?
The regular and casual use of our words and lips determines the kind of virtue that will flow out of our lives.
One conversation changed the way I measure spiritual maturity.
I was listening to someone who knew the Bible inside out. They quoted verses effortlessly, prayed passionately, and sounded deeply spiritual.
Then the conversation shifted.
We stopped talking about church and started talking about money, success, people, and forgiveness.
That's when I realized something.
You don't really know what shapes a person's life until life takes the conversation away from church.
Anyone can sound spiritual when discussing God.
But how you think about power, respond to offense, treat people who can't help you, and make decisions under pressure reveals what truly governs your heart.
The Pharisees knew the Scriptures, yet they rejected Christ. Even Satan quoted Scripture in the wilderness.
Knowing verses isn't the goal.
Being transformed by the One the verses point to is.
The gospel doesn't just teach us what to say, it teaches us how to think.
When Christ truly rules a person's heart, you won't only hear it in their words.
You'll recognize it in the way they live.
My wife always asks me how come I make friends everywhere we go…
How come people remember me and I get great service?
No.
The answer is not my Twitter account.
The real answer is this:
A smile and a genuine interest in the other person.
It’s universal. Works everywhere.
Sitting around waiting for a man to do nice things for you is crazy. Take yourself out the country, take yourself on dates, buy yourself nice shit. Provide yourself with the lifestyle you want so when you do meet someone you set a standard and never settle.
4 years ago I signed on a client spending $1k a day and I thought I was on top of the world. We now spend $750k-$1m pr/mo on ads. Never give up on your vision.
Dating can be exhausting but baby when you put in that self work and really learn how to communicate your needs. The ability to weed thru the BS is easy peasy.
