I just finished In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust. What a masterpiece. It deserves its fame, it is transformative, read it.

AI will continue to enhance productivity. The work undertaken by professionals will alter (somewhat), but lawyers, accountants, etc., will still be needed to drive that productivity, process the information and (important) check it. The bigger question is the impact on knowledge.

When a government comes under pressure from at least a significant portion of its people, it should pause, listen, show magnanimity. Tehran has not done this today. Trouble is, when a government tells some citizens you have no future, they may conclude they have nothing to lose.

Nagorno-Karabakh (the disclosure of past international proposals to end the conflict by the Armenian government). There is a blame game on the Armenian side. What was accepted, what rejected and why, etc., etc. However, what I would like to know is, what did Baku ever agree to?

Armenia-Azerbaijan (refugees). One possibility is to establish, intergovernmentally, a joint committee to enable both governments to establish a dialogue and share good practice on their return. A good time to set this up would be after entry into force of the peace agreement.

Sorry, but I am very confused. When I was at school and university, a liberal was likely to be someone whose politics were on the centre or centre-right, today it is the left. I believe it should be neither. It is a word that cannot be (politically) demarcated.

(Greetings from Dubai.) As the world is distracted by events, I would like to recommend that all parents with children (who are still children) read What Maisie Knew by Henry James. I read it last week and was deeply moved. This book should be on every parent's reading list.
