Boxer @MikeTyson is famous not only for his fighting, but for his lisp. He once created a clothing line featuring his impediment. With a nod to Iron Mike, may I suggest a practical approach to fear: we should FACE it, but we also must FAITH it. That is, apply trust in our #God.
Some time ago, US News & World Report had the article, “What People Who Live to 100 Have in Common:”
1. Female
2. Less diversity
3. Lives with others
4. City living
5. Located in the Northeast or Midwest
Most of us won’t see 100 years. But what will we do with the years we have?
Beloved, we are the instruments #God uses in feast and famine. He uses us to comfort the afflicted. He uses us to bring hope to those who lack it. We rejoice with those who rejoice and we weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:15, NKJV)
My son Timothy may not even remember he just had a birthday because HE GOT MARRIED last weekend! He wed the lovely Yasmin at a Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. (Don’t ask me why.) Wishing them both God’s richest blessings as they begin their life together!
May I wish the happiest of HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to my beloved son Timothy, who turns 33 today. I’m certain this will be one birthday he will never, ever forget. I’ll tell you why tomorrow.
A young man went to his pastor, claiming he’d lost hope. The pastor prayed, “Lord, please send tribulation to this young man.” The man was startled. The pastor said, “I know of no way for you to be filled with hope except to experience tribulation.” That’s directly from Romans 5.
“Now when He rose early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him…when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.”
— Mark 16:9,10a,11(MKJV)
“‘But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.’ So they went out and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.”
— Mark 16:7-8 (NKJV)
“Entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said, “Do not be alarmed. You seek #Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here.”
— Mark 16:5-6a (NKJV) #Easter
“And they said among themselves, ‘Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?’ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.”
— Mark 16: 3-4 (NKJV)
#Easter
“Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.“
— Mark 16:1-2 (NKJV)
#Easter
“#Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 (NKJV)
With His death, Jesus freed us from the lies of sin and shame and gave us a new identity rooted in His Truth. That’s what makes #GoodFriday “good.”
Not one of us is obligated to be like those who came before us. Beloved, we are privileged to decide what kind of life we will have: loving, adventurous, curious, faithful, ethical, moral, encouraging. affirming… even if those who had great influence over us were not.
Here is the frustration: we see the #Christ, hear His words and are aware of His miracles (works), yet still soooooo many do not believe!
Oh, faithful followers of Jesus, behold the Christ. Hear His words. See His works. Walk His way!
