@the_culturist_ Any suggestions like this for western literate music? (ie written music, commonly called "classical" music but the wider tradition from ~900AD to the present day)
@amwilson_opera Ok! It's an interesting rabbit hole to go down. How about this (obscure I admit! And apparently un-cancelled later) ? https://t.co/xSLXELA5sY
@ihtesham2005@moutet Perhaps explains the effectiveness of the tonal system (in music). Start in the tonic, reach the dominant, and there's your unclosed loop demanding closure. Discovered much earlier than 1927 too!
@StevenIsserlis It's all wonderful. But I think works such as Agon, Threni, and the sublime Requiem Canticles are worth persisting with. I find them moving, memorable, and deeply mysterious whereas atonal music by lesser composers tends to leave me cold.
At the #GaryCon artist's booth I learned that Larry Elmore was willing to do the covers of the new Dragonlance trilogy but was told that they wanted a digital artist because digital art has more "pop." So instead of a cover like the one on the left we got the one on the right.
Lord Lexden in the House of Lords:
“How should the sudden imposition of an unprecedented education tax on 1 January, after a rushed consultation last summer when schools were on holiday, be described?
Just one word does it: cruel.”
@Nigel_Farage Can't you just apologise to each other, have a nice dinner, reach some kind of agreement to behave, bring @RupertLowe10 back as a Reform MP then focus again on the real challenge, ie defeating your real enemies Labour and the Tories?? Come on. The police stuff is surely bogus.
people are very, very strange
they are constantly angered by trivial things
but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice
@POTUS Pity you couldn't have roasted @Keir_Starmer like this, he deserves it more, he campaigned against you, called you lots of bad things, came with a begging bowl... Missed opportunity!
https://t.co/WPMf7JIGJC Do you remember the bit where @bphillipson
said there would be enough places and it wouldn't impact state school children? She lied.
