We lost a legend today.
John Perkins was a true light. He inspired us so much. A true gift.
Dr Perkins gave encouragement, wisdom, and kindness to our band in ways that shaped our lives deeply. His warmth and unwavering compassion were not reserved for a few—they were extended to those who disagreed with him. His life was a living reminder of good news—the kind of hope that doesn’t ignore pain but confronts it with truth, grace, and courage. His story challenges all of us with a simple but powerful question: what will we do with the love we’ve been given? In his honor, may we keep loving, keep hoping, and keep fighting for a world where compassion is stronger than division.
The man I’ve called Daddy, died. Dr. John M. Perkins died this morning, March 13, 2026, surrounded at home by his wife and family.
To the world, he was Dr. John M. Perkins, a voice for justice, reconciliation, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He received 19 honorary doctorate degrees, but most importantly, he was the devoted husband of his bride, Vera Mae Perkins, for 74 years, and together they were blessed with 8 children.
But to me, he was Daddy.
My heart is broken, yet full of gratitude for the gift of being his daughter. His life was marked by courage, humility, faith, and love. He poured himself out for God, for people, and for the work of reconciliation.
Please keep our family in your prayers as we grieve, honor, and celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy.
Daddy, thank you. We love you, and we will carry your legacy forward. V. Elizabeth Perkins
My sister Priscilla and I are especially thankful today. We’ve spent our whole lives watching our father love people with a quiet, steady strength—one that softened even the hardest places. His love walked into brokenness, celebrated joy, and saw worth where others saw none.
Today, we pause with grateful hearts.
Because his life taught us that love isn’t just a moment… it’s a mission. A movement shaped by grace. And the beautiful truth is this: many of us — not just his daughters — are standing on his shoulders.
We’re humbled. We’re grateful. And we’re deeply committed to carrying this movement forward with joy, honor, and thanksgiving.
Love is the Movement.

I decided to leave Domino's Pizza LLC and work for Slate Auto. I think I can help more people this way. Making new vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love. https://t.co/R3RaoSm4hB
My Testimony–
I grew up an atheist.
Never knew Jesus, never learned about Jesus, and never really cared to either.
I was happy.
I had great friends, a healthy family, and a good education. I excelled in sports, enjoyed playing video games, and loved to eat ice cream.
It never seemed like I needed anything, but always felt like I was missing something.
Even as a young child, I would lie in bed wondering What’s it all for?
An infinite universe, a finite existence, and a lack of higher purpose.
God had set eternity on my heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). And I wasn’t all that interested in the “straight path” the world had to offer.
Yet, my life felt like a movie in which I was the main character.
In high school I won state championships, made the all-conference teams, had an attractive girlfriend… I was the man.
Then God humbled me.
When I was 17, I was distracted driving and struck and killed my family’s dog. My mom woke me up the next morning with tears in her eyes and informed me that my classmate had overdosed on drugs and died. That same day I played the worst basketball game of my life and threw the state championship for my team. Then two weeks later, Covid struck in the spring of my senior year of high school, and everything was canceled.
No prom, no graduation, no lacrosse season, no parties, no girlfriend.
Also during that time, my uncle who I looked up to as a father figure was diagnosed with stage four cancer. The architecture school I was enrolled in went completely virtual and required a vaccination for attendance. I started smoking daily, drinking heavily, craving sexual immorality, and falling into depression.
I was no longer the main character, no longer the man, no longer happy.
Then, in desperation, I began to pray to a God I did not yet know.
And he answered me.
Not with some dream, or vision, or miraculous healing. He answered me by placing people into my life who were willing to help me become the man he wanted me to be.
I started studying the Bible daily, praying constantly, going to church frequently.
And then on April 30th of 2023, I was baptized.
It’s been over two years now, and I’m happier than ever.
I have eliminated all the bad habits from my life, built friendships that will last an eternity, and just recently got married to a true woman of God.
I finally found a higher purpose—to teach others the same gospel that changed me, and help them become the men God wants them to be. My wife and I lead a ministry together, and I hope to eventually lead larger groups and play a significant role in winning this world for Christ.
My content on here is part of that mission.
Thank you for reading my story and for supporting me on my journey.

This is a good talk. My aunt Jane and Janet Thomasma told me about it. At the end there's a part about Pastor Dick Stravers. He was pastor of the church in Cleveland my family went to when I grew up and he spoke at my father's funeral almost 9 years ago. https://t.co/62gqm97CIq
@antonioguterres At #ICN2025, I shared why nutrition is central to development, resilience & equity.
Evidence shows malnutrition undermines human potential, economic growth & climate adaptation.
$1 invested in nutrition can yield $23.
Science must guide action: nutrition is a political choice💡.
“Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy”. Matthew. 5:7 Jesus became the ultimate example of this when he cried from the cross, “Father, Forgive Them: for they know not what they do”. Luke 23:34 #WednesdayMotivation
The smarter the world gets, the harder it is to ignore the truth of Christ.
Dr. YoungHoon Kim, officially recognized in 2024 as having the highest IQ ever recorded says:
"I believe that Jesus Christ is God, the way and the truth and the life."
He points to quantum physics to support belief in God and the afterlife.
Faith isn’t fading. It’s rising — even among the world’s greatest minds.
Anyone can follow Jesus. Jesus invites everyone to follow him. Learn about Jesus. Learn from him. Teresa and I pray that everyone will join us in this good future, and experience beauty and harmony of the new life now and also comfort, peace and strength. Our love to you all!
We’re very grateful for all the family, friends and caregivers who are around us helping with thoughts, prayers, cards, conversations, actions, etc. We pray for all of you all the time.
I am, and will be, on this Alzheimer’s journey with her. It’s not a path we want to take. But like any other journey, we rely on many people to help us as we go.
