This video is currently all over social media. Many are expressing sorrow for this woman and sadness at her outrage. My take on it is different. The look you see on her face is not outrage…it’s realisation. It is the look of a white, liberal lefty woman suddenly realising that her entire worldview is/was totally wrong. That what she had spent her life arrogantly portraying as her higher morality and understanding was in fact “suicidal empathy” as described by @GadSaad and that empathy was going to destroy her entire society.

After a few wars of stalemate, Hamas (and Hezbollah) became confident that Israel was too scared to invade their crowded areas to weed out their militia. As long as they hid in and under heavily populated cities, there was little Israel could do to lure them out to fight them. An air campaign would not kill Hamas leaders or dislodge the militia, which started seeing itself as immune. This miscalculation prompted Sinwar to order the Oct 7 massacre of 1,200, thinking he'd get away with it with impunity and through negotiations and prisoner swap (that Qatar was always ready to conduct).
Transcript, Sinwar, May 26, 2021:
The Israeli plan was named "Southern Winds." This battle erupted while they were beginning a maneuver called "Chahar Harb." Their plan was based on seizing the initiative, delivering the first blow to eliminate the political, military, and security leadership tier, as well as command and control centers. They failed miserably in this, and the whole world saw that.
They failed in assessing our orientations and our level of readiness. What kind of intelligence failure is this for a state that is ostensibly great in terms of intelligence, projecting an image of an agency capable of reading what is inside people's minds?
Abu al-Abad [Haniyyeh] happily steps forward to state clearly that enough playing with fire, and Abu Khalid al-Deif comes out to issue this final warning, yet they are unable to comprehend that it is a true final warning. It is as if when Abu Khalid al-Deif speaks, he is merely promoting some goods.
A horrific intelligence failure. If their political leadership possessed any integrity, they would have removed the heads of those responsible for the intelligence operations and situational assessment.
And they would have swept away the leadership of this defeated army, which cannot execute any of its plans.
They shifted to the alternative plan targeting underground command, control, and leadership centers, aiming to eliminate the leadership of Hamas and the political, military, and security resistance factions, striking around 100 people to eliminate them all at once according to the active plan, "Southern Winds." Yet they managed to hit only one person from the first tier, whom God Almighty chose as a martyr, our brother Bassem Isa, Abu Emad.
And from the second tier, consisting of around 500 leaders or more, they managed to hit five.
All from a single specialization: engineering, communication technology, and development.
As for the rest of the movement's political, military, and security leadership, and the remaining leaders of the factions, they remain intact and will continue the path, God willing.
They began with the major deception campaign—the third objective on their agenda—which aimed to lure no fewer than 500 fighters from the elite units of Hamas and other resistance factions into ambushes and advanced positions. The military spokesperson for the defeated, failed army gathered international and Israeli press to announce the start of a ground campaign.
This was done so that the resistance leadership would decide to deploy forces into underground ambushes, expecting to engage their tanks as they assumed. However, our intelligence was aware of the enemy's plot and maintained a complete picture. From the first moment, it was clear to our brothers in the military intelligence of the Al-Qassam Brigades that it was a trick and that there was no ground invasion, and that the objective was to lure our forces.
Consequently, instructions were issued to all our forces, including elite units, that no one should descend into the tunnels or advance to those positions, and existing forces were withdrawn.
Thus, 160 F-16 fighter jets, loaded with bunker-buster missiles, took off and began bombing the border area, believing they would eliminate no fewer than 500 Nukhba fighters.
Since we are broadcasting live, and many are watching what is happening there, we do not wish to elaborate further on sensitive matters. We were planning to have Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, appear in a press conference to stir things up a bit. We know they would appreciate that.
They failed miserably. I tell you, and I tell the whole world to reassure our nation, that they did not harm a single fighter from the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades or the resistance factions through this major deception campaign that Kochavi planned.

Meet Vasyl Vasiuta, a 53-year-old man from Ukraine’s Lviv region. He has nine children. Three of his sons went to war. One of them was killed.
Poland is just 10 kilometers from his home. The front line is 1,300 kilometers away. Yet ten years ago, Vasyl volunteered to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
All three of his sons eventually fought alongside him.
In February 2022, his 20-year-old son Dmytro was killed near Mykolaiv. It took nearly a month to find his body. He was finally identified by his tattoo.
Of the three brothers who went to war, Dmytro was killed, Ivan was discharged from the military after being wounded, and Marian is still fighting in the Donbas.
When Marian learned that his brother had been killed, he immediately called his father.
Vasyl had just one word in response:
“Understood.”
After losing his son, Vasyl was wounded himself. His arm hadn't healed, he had lost feeling in three fingers, and his knee still hurt. Yet he kept pushing to return to the front.
“That’s what real courage looks like to me. When Dmytro was killed, my father didn't give up. A week later, he was wounded himself, but he kept fighting,” his son says.
For years, Vasyl sent his sons the same message while they were at the front:
“Son, how are you? Just send me a plus sign on Viber.”
When asked what it's like to have three sons at war, he gives a simple answer:
“Hard. Very hard.”
His injuries and declining health eventually forced him to leave the front. He returned home and now works as a forester.
But his thoughts are still there.
Every day, he walks 20 kilometers through the forest, perhaps trying to quiet the pain he carries inside.
In his home village of Cherneve, 90 of the 800 residents serve in the military. Five have been killed. One is missing.
And Vasyl keeps walking through the forest, thinking of his sons.
Living with a loss that can never be undone and a pain that never truly goes away.
