When Khalifa Umar bin al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) was stabbed, they brought him milk and he drank it, and the milk came out from his side... So the doctor said to him: "Make your will, O Commander of the Faithful, for you will not live."
He called his son Abdullah and said to him: "Bring me Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman..." And Hudhayfah came-he was the Companion to whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) had given the names of the hypocrites, known only to God, His Messenger, and Hudhayfah.

He filled the earth with justice and feared Allah with intense fear, even though the Messenger-peace and blessings be upon him-had given him glad tidings of Paradise. So what about us today, when none of us knows whether his Lord is pleased with him or not? And yet we amuse ourselves and laugh, without fearing or dreading, without reflecting on our fate after death...
O Allah, make our end a good one and keep us steadfast at the time of death.
O Allah, guide us and guide others through us, and make us a cause for those who are guided... and guide our descendants to guidance after which we shall never suffer nor go astray, O Lord of the worlds.
