Let me tell you guys a very interesting story. You know when I say something is interesting, you have to believe me🍿
Lee Kang-in was scouted at the age of 10 in Korea, and invited for trials in Valencia which he aced.
According to FIFA rules, a 10 year old boy cannot be transferred to Europe from another continent. That’s why you see players like Estevao, they have to be 18 before they move. Anything less than 18 years old, you’re a minor.
However, there’s an exception to this rule. If your parents will relocate with you, but they must not relocate BECAUSE OF YOU. That is, they will not relocate for footballing reasons.
Once your parents relocate with you to that country for non-footballing reasons, then the club can sign you.
Brethren, most footballers you see that have succeeded, there’s a parent that has made crazy sacrifices for them. Even in the UK, from the age of 5, parents are taking their kids to training everyday, traveling with them for trials even if they fail most of them, taking them to school equally, and still having to work to pay bills. Parents are everything.
Guess what happened with Kang-in Lee?
His father relocated to Valencia way before he was going to join the Valencia academy. His father opened a taekwondo studio in Valencia and started training people how to fight taekwondo. The man couldn’t even speak Spanish, but learned.
That was a source of income, so his father’s relocation was treated as “relocation for non-footballing reasons”, which will qualify 10 year old Kang-in Lee to be signed by Valencia from abroad.
His mother also resigned from her job as an Hospital Administrator in Korea, to join her husband in running the Taekwondo studio in Valencia, Spain. It doesn’t stop there, his two sisters also relocated. The whole family relocated for the dream of a 10-year old who they weren’t sure was going to make it.
The talent was there, but he had to make it. He MUST make it. The whole family left their lives to focus on his, no chance of not making it😅
For people wondering, this was how the underage rule didn’t affect 10 year old Kang-in Lee.
Hope you enjoyed this little story. Was it interesting like I promised?
A friend once told me something about football agents that genuinely shocked me.
He said there are players who agreed to give an agent a percentage of their wages for YEARS in some cases, allegedly up to 10 years.
I asked him:
“How can that even be possible?”
His answer shocked me even more:
“They signed it from the beginning. Their parents knew about it.”
Then he told me another story.
He claimed an agent once went to the airport with his people when a player returned home because the player allegedly hadn’t paid the agreed percentage.
According to him, the player was only allowed to leave after the money was paid.
I honestly struggled to believe what I was hearing.
This is exactly why young players and their parents need to understand every single line of an agent agreement before signing it.
Don’t sign because someone promises you a trial.
Don’t sign because someone says they can take you to Europe.
Don’t sign because your parents trust them.
Understand what you are signing.
A football career can last 10–15 years.
A bad contract can follow you for years too.
And sometimes the biggest mistake a young player makes isn’t choosing the wrong club.
It’s signing the wrong paper.
The way I screamed at a male local dog (Ekuke) that made its way into my compound and tried to copulate my female Beorbel...
I was livid.
Now I understand how these rich folks look at poor guys who go close to their daughters. 😆
nothing humbles a man like watching his mates get minutes while he’s calculating how many matches he’s spent on that bench... god even if na substitute, put am. let there be hope 🤍
The disrespect in this solar business will actually make you lose your home training.
You will sit down for 3 good hours doing real engineering work for a prospective client. You run proper load calculations so their AC and pumping machine won't trip the inverter, size the battery bank so the cells don't die after one year, calculate string voltages, balance of system, and correct DC cable sizes so their roof doesn't catch fire. You put everything in a clean, detailed BOQ and send it to them.
Next thing, they take your exact design and carry it to one wireman down the street. They hand him your document and tell him: "See the exact list of what we need. How much will you collect to just buy these things and screw them to my roof?"
My brother, you didn’t ask me for a quote. You collected free engineering consulting and full system design on a platter of gold.
Fast forward three months later: the system cannot carry half of their daily load, the wireman used ordinary AC breaker on DC solar cables because "current na current," the inverter is mounted on a hot wall baking under direct sun, and one of the battery packs has entered permanent coma.
Then by 7 AM on a Saturday, your WhatsApp will ring with a voice note: "Ah Engr, good morning. Quick question abeg. That inverter on the quote you sent me that time is beeping and showing Error 08, what do you think is causing it?"
Oga, call that your wireman na. Why are you messaging me?
As from today, zero free engineering. If you ask for a quote, you will only see the total capacity and the project cost. If you want component model, cable schedules, single-line diagrams, and detailed load audits, you will pay for consultation upfront.
Cheap solar is always the fastest way to spend double.

Understand Billing. Know WHEN to bill, WHO to bill and HOW to bill. Billing is not about money, it’s about value, and this is part of your professional identity.
Not all client pays and not everyone can strictly be categorised as clients. So it is totally impossible to get paid by everyone.
The key point to note is that for every piece of work you do, irrespective of whether it is free or discounted, produce an invoice and a receipt, even when the client pays no dime and ensure the client receives a copy.
Pro bono services, parents, family, friends, always issue an invoice, then on that invoice and receipt, discount it, write it off or mark it as probono and issue it to the client.
When people do not see a figure, they do not register the cost of what they received in their minds. A favour with no invoice is invisible. A favour with an invoice that was graciously written off is memorable. This is not about money. This is about your perceived value.
If you bill 250k and choose to accept 50k, the client must understand the actual value of the service, the concession you made, and the generosity behind that concession.
Later, when that client refers someone to you, they won’t say he charges 50k, they will say “his fee is 250k, but he took 50k from me because we’re friends. I don’t know if he will give you the same rate, but I can speak to him on your behalf.”
Your discounted client or friend becomes one of your most accurate marketing tools because you gave them the correct number to work with. They understand the value they received, and the next person approaches you knowing your actual rate, not the discounted rate someone else happened to receive.
That is how you preserve rate integrity.
You may discount your fee. You may waive your fee. You may work pro bono.
But never allow a concession to redefine the value of your work. Always document your work and always communicate its value.
Reminds me of the story of Toni Nadal, Rafa Nadal’s uncle. Family can really play a huge part in the life of your child.
He started training his nephew in Tennis from the age of 4. The man was so disciplined that he didn’t care if Rafa was a child, he’ll drill the hell out of him. Rafa would go home and cry.
His mother had thoughts of stopping him from going to train, because she didn’t like that her young child was being drilled that way. Rafa also became tough that he didn’t want his mum to interfere😅
In fact, the reason why Rafa Nadal was so good on clay court was primarily because Mallorca’s courts were clay, and his uncle also preferred it rather than taking him to hard courts. His uncle wanted him to be dirty since he was young. That would show that he’s worked hard when you can see the dirts all over you. He said he wanted his socks to be dirty.
There were times he would shout at a 13 year old Rafa Nadal, drill him to breaking point. After training in a group, every other kid would go home, he would make Rafa sweep the courts😅.
In fact, during training in the heat, he does not let Rafa drink water in the first hour. No water. You must suffer.
This was part of the mind games, he would let Rafa almost win training games, and then start beating him, with the mindset that he must stay locked in, he was simply preparing Rafa Nadal for the big stages.
The funny part is that Rafa Nadal once said, playing matches is easier than training with his uncle 😂
Together, they went on to win 16 grand slams. 10 French Opens, 2 Wimbledons, 3 US opens, 1 Australian Open. Then his uncle left the team. Rafa won 6 titles afterwards to make up his 22 grand slams.
Please watch Nadal’s documentary if you haven’t. These are the things I spend my time watching. Very interesting documentary. It’s also one that shows how a family member can play a huge role in the life of your child, hence, the relation to this tweet.
Naija man to Naija man, sometimes you just gats disappear small, reduce the noise, face your hustle and build yourself. Nobody go do am for you 🤝🏾
No pressure. No competition. Just make sure say next year, you no still dey where you dey today. 🚀
Something I noticed about resilient people: They don't have fewer problems. They have faster reset times. Bad news hits at 9am. By 10am, they're back to their priorities. They feel it, process it, and move. The speed of the reset matters more than the size of the setback.
Amateur and grassroot footballers, who want to one day play professional football, brotherly you need money.
I swear to God, you need money and connection. Don't let anyone deceive you, you need money.
