MRTV recently broadcasted interior of BEMU.F 001, the first set of conversion of KIHA 40 into Battery Electric Multiple Units (BEMU). They said that BEMU will be start operations soon on the Yangon Circular Railway and other short-distance routes.
On June 16, 2026, team members from the Nay Pyi Taw New Locomotive Assembly Plant successfully ran a load trial for a newly upgraded BEMU.F 002 on the Nay Pyi Taw - Taungoo - Oktwin route with 80km/h. Look out for them on the tracks soon!
