This is Elizabeth MacDonough; she was appointed as Senate Parliamentarian in 2012.

She's supposed only to make suggestions... meaning the Senate d/n have to cut the things she takes out of proposed legislation.

But in reality, it's exceedingly rare that the Senate doesn't accept all of her "suggestions" - which essentially makes them her decisions, made unilaterally.

This is a tremendously powerful position, as we've now seen multiple times when she's, in effect, overruled the President and his agenda (the one America voted for).

Yet she's not only unaccountable to the American people through the ballot box, but also to the Constitution, which neither mentions nor requires a Parliamentarian.
