free party game in your browser. phones are the controllers, every punch lands on the beat of a Birthright song. drawn in ballpoint. made in South Jersey
I'm a musician from South Jersey and I turned my band's songs into a party game. Two robots fight to the beat, and every song is a boss fight. This one is Fighting by my band Birthright.
What the fighters see on their phones. Everybody else on the couch gets a different screen: they vote and cheer, and it changes the fight. #indiedev#partygame#gamedesign
@MeloMisterio_en A 2:1:1:2 motif is a fun one to improvise over, it keeps pulling you back to the downbeat. Do you pick the motif before you start playing, or does it fall out of the first few bars?
@VerrithenStudio A flashing floor is a great fit for a popping game, the floor keeps time for you. Do the balloons actually pop on the beat on this map, or does the music just set the mood?
@lexgames_dev Play Again keeping the group together is the part people underrate. Losing the room between rounds kills a party game faster than any bug. Does the winner reveal hold until everyone has seen it, or can someone skip ahead?
@hondakiyoshi A minigame growing into its own game is the best kind of origin story. Eight frogs on one screen sounds chaotic in the right way. Did the rules change much once it had to stand on its own outside CASSETTE BOY?
@NMetalaw Transient analysis on the full mix makes sense, the snare and the guitar stabs both end up in there. Do you hand clean the chart after, or is what ships straight from the analysis?
I made a party game out of my band's songs. Your phone is the controller, every punch lands on the beat, and the loser gets scribbled out. It's free and it's out today. https://t.co/slROQ3pxPl #indiegame#partygame#gamedev
@prplon_ A moose gliding over that pink haze is a great image. Is the slow motion something players will get to trigger, or is it just your camera tool for now?
@pariahinteract@commonopera Strangers in a bar is the most honest playtest there is. What surprised you most about how people handled the timing once the crowd was watching?
Grab a power up and the whole page redraws mid fight. Comic book, blueprint, crayon, chalkboard, all on the same song. Which one should be the default? #indiedev#gamedev
@jackboxgames Patching a party game off player feedback right before Halloween is the move, limited trivia is exactly what gets the same friend group to pull it back out every October. What was the most requested change?
@MegaRan The fans would fund it in a day, but Mighty No. 9 proved the money is the easy part and keeping the original feel is the hard part. If the writers and the composer are in, I am in.
@volkov_ayyy Answering a coffee question with a raymarched V60 is the most dev thing I have seen all week. Did your friends ever get an actual recommendation out of you?
@Jupiter_Hadley As a solo dev this is the push I needed, a press kit and one link should be ready before anyone asks, not after. What is the one thing you wish every dev had on hand when you walk up?
Indirect dug up 18 indie games you probably have not seen in this one. Small showcase channels like this are how good games get found. #indiegameshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WShk1l_sdPo
