Just learned today that to pause on #YouTube, one can hit "K" on the keyboard.
I wonder if future #youtubers will think that the word origin for "OK" was "Oh, pause"? 🤷🏾♂️⏸️
A robot is cleaning rivers completely autonomously. 🌊
Meet Hebao H3, an autonomous surface-cleaning boat developed by Dongfang Water.
Using onboard AI vision and GPS, it can detect and collect floating waste such as plastic bags, bottles and leaves while avoiding obstacles.
When its collection bin is full, the H3 can automatically return to its base.
Would you trust robots to keep our rivers clean? 👀

Which American house style would you choose to live in?
From the steep roofs of Cape Cod homes and the symmetry of Colonial Revival and Georgian houses to the deep porches of Craftsman homes and the strong horizontal lines of Prairie architecture, each style has its own defining features.
This visual guide compares 12 common American house styles and the architectural details that set them apart.
People are really not paying enough attention to this.
Last week, in the post below, I wrote that China would soon have AI tools to easily internationalize the hundreds of thousands of AI mini-series it produces every year, and "re-render the footage with local faces, languages and other local cultural characteristics for every single international market at near-zero cost."
Turns out I was already behind: these tools exist already.
The video below demos Seko, made by SenseTime (商汤, Shāngtāng), a Hong Kong-listed computer vision company. Seko is a platform for making AI-powered mini-series, and in early September it added a feature called 出海转绘 (chūhǎi zhuǎnhuì, "overseas re-rendering").
The way it works is that you upload a finished episode, it breaks it down shot by shot (framing, camera movement, props, sound), you pick a target market and language, and it regenerates the whole thing with local characters, sets, props and even on-screen signs, keeping the same composition and pacing as the original. English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Portuguese, French, German: one episode, as many versions as you want.
It's basically as if Netflix could remake every single one of its series for every country on earth, with local actors and in local language, at the push of a button. It's a massive change in the entertainment industry.
Which means we're probably on the eve of an absolute avalanche of Chinese mini-series hitting every social feed on the planet, each one looking like it was shot down the street.
"The greatest danger with #AI is not that it will stop obeying humanity. The greatest danger is that it will obey the wrong human beings perfectly." --#Albania at @UN General Assembly
If you want to use #AI for #military purposes, it needs to have love for the people it's protecting, love for its mission, and possibly, to prevent coups, a good reward or emolument. 2/2
I keep reading about #AI fears, & I'm like, "you're worried of AI going rogue & taking over, but you want to use for military applications?" There's a fundamental ideological mismatch. If you don't want AI to harm humans, it needs empathy, which warriors don't have usually. 1/2
The safety benefits of roundabouts in Texas speak for themselves. In New Waverly, two roundabouts built in 2015 have had ZERO fatal or injury crashes in the 11 years they've been in use. That helps @TxDPS focus on keeping all of us safe. #RoundaboutsWeek#DriveLikeATexan
Opus 5.5 designing LEGO 👀
I asked it to design a Microduck I can build with real LEGO pieces. It:
> designed it life-size using 1113 real LEGO parts
> verified: 3,204 connections, 0 collisions, every step buildable, centre of mass inside the feet 🤯
> made a 141-page LEGO-style booklet (237 steps)
> priced every piece in the browser and prepared the orders on BrickLink
If #dogs have the brain equivalent of a two-year old, why don't we breed them so they have the brainpower of a three-year old, so they don't put foreign objects in their mouths?
