Today I turned off paid subscriptions on my X account. Everything I post here will be free from now on. A big thank you to everyone who supported me. I appreciate that you were willing to pay to read my work. I've grown uncomfortable with how many people here charge for “deep dives” that offer barely anything beyond what a single ChatGPT prompt could give me. The same goes for selling trade ideas in popular stocks without showing much work on the valuation or what could go wrong. If you're new to investing, it's hard to judge how much work sits behind a confident write-up. You might be paying for conclusions the author couldn't explain if you asked a few follow-up questions. My background is in auditing and working as a controller. I've spent years looking behind the reported numbers, reviewing the work of company controllers and getting into how the businesses actually operate. A lot of that work involved conversations with board members and the people responsible for running those businesses, asking them to explain decisions and backing those explanations up with evidence. That experience shapes how I read an earnings report. If margins improve, I want to understand what changed in the business and how much comes from accounting assumptions. If management forecasts a big increase in sales, I want to know what needs to happen operationally for those numbers to hold up. That's the experience I try to bring to my research here. It doesn't make every conclusion right, but it influences the questions I ask before putting my own money into a company. You don't need a finance background to produce research worth paying for. I do expect the author to bring something of their own and be able to explain their reasoning when challenged. Hopefully, making my work freely available here helps a few people form their own view before paying for someone else's. My DMs are open if you want to discuss something.
