Do statins cause diabetes? 🤔

No!

According to the USPSTF meta-analysis there was no increase in incident diabetes with statin therapy.

The fear of getting diabetes should not dissuade patients from starting lipid lowering treatment.

In the morning OPD, I saw my intern reading the very famous Coaching Ortho Notes 2.0 version. I asked her two clinical signs, to identify ulnar and median nerve weakness. Could not answer. Then I turned towards two of my first-year PGs, who also could not answer either. Now, I assume that both of my PGs would have solved all these basic MCQs and achieved a reasonable rank to secure a spot in ortho. It implies or I assume that they were/are reasonably knowledgeable kids.
I am sure that if I had shown a written multiple-choice question with four options, they would have gotten it correct with some other MCQ guessing mechanism. However, when a direct question is asked without any options, they turn blank!
Something has terribly gone wrong with our medical education system. The ease with which information and knowledge are available to them at their fingertips (mobile apps, Grok, ChatGPT) is phenomenal. Yet, they are struggling even with the most basic clinical acumen.
