"We were shown an army capable of waging war."
This is the key point. Japan has come to the aid of others after disasters many times; the 2004 Thailand tsunami, the 2013 Philippines earthquake, the 2015 Nepalese earthquake, the 2020 Australian wildfires. Sending help is just what human beings do. If America does more, it's because we have greater military logistical capability. Military strength can do much more than destroy things; it can build. Even our aircraft carriers can hook themselves to the land-based grid and power a city if they need to. Power is neither good nor evil; that is found in the hearts of the people who wield it.
The Japanese people should keep this in mind when debating a certain constitutional matter.
