@nerdymermaid101 I remember that scene well since it was the first time a death in this franchise had been genuinely heartfelt to me - underlined when even Ash acted serious about it.
...and then she returned as one of the funniest deadites in history!
@ryanhollinger If Sketch can be labeled "horror for kids", it would definitely be my pick.
HauntΒ Season also deserves more attention, although I suspect it arrived late last year.
@BriAnimator_ The family aspect is partially why I enjoyed this one more than the other sequels. I loved the sibling dynamic between Erik/Bobby & Stefani/Charlie.
@SpookyHorrorGal I grew up by the town where this movie takes place (Otta). They used so much artistic licence as far as geography and location went, it was the only thing I could think of afterwards, heh!
@BriAnimator_ Bring her Back won't arrive in my country for months, but I definitely agree on Sinners and Ugly Stepsis. Not the biggest fan of the Final Destination series, but Bloodlines was actually the most I've enjoyed it since the original.
@BriAnimator_ Come and see (Idi i smotri) for me.
Utterly grim and depressing, but I think it comes close to depict the absolute hell on earth that war (combined with ethnic cleansing) is for civilians.
@FinalDude78 Refreshing rating. Your first two are my favorites as well, mainly because they had more heartbreak than usual.
I'd actually love to see a totally serious instalment in this series, but it would probably be considered too bleak and depressing.
@Spookymegs666 I may not be the biggest fan of the franchise, but I like how it dares to be silly, especially in a time certain people consider A24 and "elevated horror" the only thing that matters.
@highhfred Feel-good film of the century!
I still can't believe the same guy directed fluff like Bodyguard and stereotypical blockbuster flicks like Volcano in the nineties...
@HorrorLovesBeth I've never seen the US version since I've heard Haneke remade his own movie shot-for-shot.
Also; if a film makes a strong impression, it's difficult for a remake to be similarly memorable.
@BriAnimator_@letterboxd One of my favorite films of the 2020s, horror or not. That ending is a rare creation which is ultra-depressing and chathartic at the same time.
@BriAnimator_ Troll Hunter is my pick. The troll mythology is cleverly used, but it's also hilarious how it deals with our government and their bureaucratic issues.
@BriAnimator_ I know I'm jaded, or maybe just a heartless cynic, but I can't remember last time I actually laughed watching a movie. Comedies - horror or not - is the most difficult genre to pull off successfully if you ask me.
