“ What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered
was all for sinners' gain;
mine, mine was the transgression,
but Thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Savior!
'Tis I deserve Thy place;
look on me with Thy favor,
vouchsafe to me Thy grace.” — Paul Gerhardt
"What God started with a manger
Ended with an empty grave
Suffering servant now exalted
Jesus, name above all names"
Thank you @rendcollective for this great Christmas Hymn. I've been listening to it nonstop!
The most important application in the sermon is always the application of Christ to the heart of a sinner. This doesn't mean we should avoid other kinds of applications, but the sermon as a distinct act within the liturgy isn't about marching orders for life per se. It is The Life Himself being preached into our hearts through the sacramental word. The application of Christ crucified is of the essence of apostolic preaching, and it's what makes our preaching today distinctly "Christian." Without this, we might give a lot of good or pious advice, but we won't raise the dead or nourish the faithful.
Thank you for this!
Send this to your pastor, and while you’re at it enter him into all the other stuff they are doing for pastors this month! Easy way to show your love and appreciation.
For Pastor Appreciation Month, we've created a vault with some of our best merch to give to pastors.

This is a good example of how we shouldn’t use the Bible. @tedcruz makes a very common mistake talking to @TuckerCarlson. Here’s a short video I made a while ago on how we should think about Israel in Scripture (and how it relates to Israel today):

The James Webb Telescope just mapped 800,000 galaxies spanning 13.5 billion years of space. Scripture simply says:
“… He made the stars also” (Gen. 1:16)
I love how God’s creation of galaxies is mentioned like it was no big deal—effortless majesty!
@djstevensNT Psalm 34! Verse 6 is one of my favorite verses in all of Scripture, because it highlights my sin/condition and God’s work in Christ to rescue and redeem me!

"In the anointed King the Lord reveals His glory, His strength, the majesty and highness of His name; in the suffering servant of the Lord He reveals His grace and the riches of His mercy." - Herman Bavinck
Satan would be quite pleased if we kept all our attention on a baby in a quaint manger scene and forgot the baby grown up bloody and dying on a cross for the sins of his people.
