I still remember the happy messages from people listening back then. Times have changed, but I hope the rebooted podcast goes someway to returning some happiness.
In 2008, I launched a sight-impaired podcast on TLWH https://t.co/Ly1a5yS8MK using early text-to-speech technology. When the software closed, the audio stopped. Today, the Nepal Uncovered Podcast brings that original page back to life: https://t.co/cCLD2tULmr

Of course back then Twitter was Twitter and very different to todays X. Back then TLWH was the only "travel blog" that was doing it. Nobody else seemed to see the value. I found that strange.
Don't buy stale tea in Thamel! ๐๐ฆ Most tourist shops sell low-grade dust in pretty packaging. True Himalayan tea is a world-class luxury, but you have to know where to find the real single-origins.

Echoing this completely @anshkashrestha . Nepal has had the tools for years, but execution gets lost in outsourced contracts & junkets. It is time for a performance-driven approach to Nepal's tourism branding. Measurable results are long overdue!
Raised concerns in Parliament over Nepal Tourism Boardโs weak branding & digital presence. Nepal needs capable, creative, performance-driven professionals to unlock our tourism potential.

Stop betting your life on "free" apps! ๐๐๏ธ
Most trekking or offline map apps use outdated GPS trail data that can lead you off a cliff or onto a "ghost trail." ๐๐ It's happening already.

There's a white out at the moment at Everest Base Camp, with bad weather hampering climbs. It's already been a bad season with ice fall blocking the route. Now they want to extend it into the off season for $$$ despite the danger.

It's "Silly" season again on Mount Everest - where money seems to buy just about anything. The permit fees are up, a giant ice block stopped the ascent, sherpas died, & it continues on ... have a listen on this weeks podcast

Best photos from the Artemis II mission.
Also the best reason to stop using Nikon, and use Hasselblad again. Or at least something better - the best photo is the last ... from 1972!

Project Hail Mary: best movie I've seen in a long time. A real feeling of this is what cinema is meant to be like.
Not sure why it's not getting proper attention because it hits all the spots.

My Favourite Trek in #Nepal? It's a bit of a surprise - it's Upper Mustang. It hits all buttons for a great trek for me. Little known, deep history, vast culture, ancient sites, arid, few tourists, wild topography, legendary experience ๐

People always ask for my top #Nepal trek. My answer? Mardi Himal.
It has everything: ridge walking and standing eye-to-eye with massive peaks. Since the teahouses are basic, it stays quiet and free from big groups. It is quick, spectacular, and my personal favorite. ๐๏ธ

Not against AI per se, but what's out there is just OTT and being passed on as being real for clicks. The same AI companies then scrap real content, rewrite, and pass it on for profit ... then an article that real writers etc can now pay to say they are real is ๐ฎ
Opened FB this morning, nothing by AI slop. Worse is that many people enjoy it, or believe it. Ditto YouTube shorts. Then came across this https://t.co/Hgvsy6LVGt which suggest some people can pay to have a no AI logo .... pay?! What a world ...๐ซ
