@Ketaczak 1. I surprised myself with my work ethic, I have already come a long way since high school.
2. I’m gonna miss the friends I made even though most of them already left, I am also gonna miss my brother. He’s starting to do all the adult stuff which is pretty scary. #writ1133du24
@Ketaczak I have learned that I have the capacity to work a lot harder than I previously thought. Not just with school, but navigating through some really weird times too. I want to be able to carry this work ethic to next year #writ1133du24
ST: The Beaufort reading describes the process and importance of transfer. I think it applies to writing because its a place where connections can be organized efficiently. However, I think it’s important to remember that writing is not the only place where transfer can be used.
I want to be able to transfer my understanding of primary research into future classes. This will help me create effective arguments and data in project reports. While I will be able to transfer this into future classes it will be most applicable in my profession. #writt1133du34
I was able to transfer my knowledge of Intro to Chem I into Intro to Mech I. With the understanding of how electrons move, it was easy to understand how current flows in a circuit. I thought it was cool how one completely different class fully depends on the other. #writ1133du24
ST: I like the perspective that Hickson has on reflection. While we all share the same goal when critically reflecting (improving your writing and work in general), we do it in completely different ways. This is a cool case where method doesn’t matter, only the result does.
@gracefowlerwrit I do the same thing. I think that its a good thing though especially with an assignment like the Lit Review. It was a rough draft, so naturally we all have room for improvement. Seeing other people’s approaches can help you in your next iteration. #writ1133du24
@eng1133brcn I agree with you, it’s important to reflect on mistakes, but it is also important to be aware of what went well. You can then use that information in the future to replicate your success.
@Ketaczak I emailed a few people for interviews, but I am not so sure I will get any responses. I also sent the link for my survey to the administrator of pre-med students as DU. She plans to send it out in the newsletter. I am actually getting started with my observational research today!
I am typically most reflective when I review my rough drafts. I try to imagine that I am not the author of the draft so that I have no bias in my thoughts about it. Then I am able to make accurate and well rounded corrections. #writ1133du24
