The statue of King George in New York City is toppled and melted down for ammunition at Bowling Green Square.
In a fury, an angry mob decapitated the statue, tore off the nose, and mounted the remainders of the heads on spikes.

Honestly, the Balogun red card reversal is just so chef's kiss.
It's the most FIFA thing ever (corruption) while simultaneously the most American thing ever (being totally fine with corruption when it benefits our interests).
Well done to all involved. You nailed it.
@jnield1968 I didn't call America corrupt. I called FIFA corrupt.
What I did say is that as Americans we are often ok with corruption when it benefits us. That was not a comment about every single person in America.
Just like if I say, as Americans we are fat, I am not calling everyone fat
Thanks!
By the way, my grandfather, father-in-law, sister and some of my best friends served this country. To somehow compare anything I said to disrespecting their service is the most vile thing in this entire interaction.
I wish you the best. I'm sure you're a good guy and I'm pretty sure if you had a chance to interact with me that you would realize that I'm not the monster you've created in your head. ๐ค
This is very complex for me. Lots of layers.
I want the USMNT to win.
Balogun playing gives them a better chance, so I want that!
This isn't anti-Trump. It's anti-FIFA and anti-political pressure on a sports governing body, regardless of the country or its leader.
In my day job, I work for a soccer league so I deal with red card suspensions and appeals all the time. I'm just amazed at how terribly and shadily it's been handled.
I love that the rest of the world's fans have enjoyed the World Cup here and a deep run for the USA would bring us respect from the soccer world that would help the sport grow even more in this country.
I see both sides of the red card decision, but thought it was harsh. I was upset that he was suspended, but having the suspension lifted under shady circumstances is going to kneecap some of that respect we stood to gain, imo.
And that is what bums me out.
