Technology doesn't create impact. Consistent usage does.
Every digital solution is built to solve a problem. But technology alone doesn't create change. People do, by using it consistently.
Today, more than 17,000 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), representing over 400,000 members, rely on Chomoka to manage their savings and lending activities.
From that experience, we've learned one simple truth: The real value of technology isn't when it's introduced. It's in the problems it continues to solve over time.
Every meeting recorded. Every savings contribution captured. Every loan and repayment documented.
Together, they create a trusted financial history, one that has enabled savings groups to access loans ranging from UGX 1 million to over UGX 27 million.
It's easy to measure success by adoption. We choose to measure it by impact. Not by how many groups join Chomoka, but by whether the problems it was built to solve are actually being solved.
Technology is only the beginning. Its true value lies in the problems it continues to solve.
How does your organisation measure impact beyond adoption?

Every thriving business starts somewhere.
For many entrepreneurs in underserved communities, it starts with a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA), a simple decision to save together.
Save, Borrow, Repay, Repeat!
With Chomoka App , that journey is digitised, turning years of consistency into a trusted financial history. That history becomes a bridge to formal finance, unlocking opportunities for group members to access credit and grow.
Credit becomes working capital. Working capital becomes fresh produce on a market stall. More produce attracts more customers. More customers mean more sales. And more sales create stronger businesses and households.
Sales pay school fees, put food on the table, and generate profits that are reinvested to keep the business growing.
Behind every market stall is a story of resilience, determination, and opportunity, each one bringing us closer to a more financially inclusive future.

Behind every loan is an opportunity to transform a life.
In this video, Joan, a leader in our credit team, shares how her team is supporting women in Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) through access to credit that helps them grow businesses, strengthen their livelihoods, and achieve economic empowerment.
It all starts with a team that understands the impact they’re creating, one woman, one group, and one community at a time.

Our Team is in Njombe Tanzania this week training 36 Community Based Trainers (CBTs) under the Advancing Women Collective Enterprises in Markets (AWCEM) project.
In three days, these trainers will gain the skills needed to support the digitization of 420 savings groups across the region on #Chomoka App To enable women led enterprises transition from manual record keeping and open up new pathways to inclusive digital finance.
By building local capacity, we’re ensuring more communities can access the benefits of digital tools improving transparency, and unlocking greater financial opportunities for women led enterprises.
Together with @CARETanzania , we’re advancing financial inclusion, one savings group at a time.

Digital isn’t the destination. It’s the enabler.
When people talk about digital transformation, the conversation often begins and ends with technology.
But technology alone doesn’t change lives.
True economic transformation isn’t measured by the technology people use.
It’s measured by the opportunities people can access, businesses they can grow, the resilience they can build, and the futures they can create because that technology exists.
With thousands of savings groups digitised through #Chomoka , we’re witnessing this transformation firsthand. We’ve seen savings groups that once had too little capital to meet members’ borrowing needs access an initial UGX 1 million(approximsately 272 usd) group loan and, through strong repayment performance, unlock over UGX 27 million (approximately 7200 usd) in group loans with support from the @UDB_Official
That growth has enabled them to meet more members’ credit needs, support more businesses, and keep capital circulating within their communities.
The impact goes far beyond access to credit. It’s reflected in growing businesses, stronger households, more resilient communities, and greater economic opportunity.
That’s the true promise of digital transformation, not digitising processes, but expanding economic opportunity.
Because digital is never the destination.
It’s the bridge to inclusion, resilience, and growth.

“Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people, today and for the future” This year’s World Population Day theme is a reminder that opportunity should grow alongside our population.
With the world’s population now approximately 8.3 billion, 1 in 5 adults globally still lack access to formal financial services, while 42% of adults in Sub-Saharan Africa remain financially excluded.
We are bridging this gap by digitising community savings groups on our Chomoka App and enabling people, especially the young(currently 33.1%) to save consistently, build digital financial identities, access credit, and create their own economic opportunities through entrepreneurship and investment.
As our population grows, so must our commitment to building inclusive financial systems that leave no one behind.

We are honored to see our work featured in the new #WorldEconomicForum article on informal economies and the solutions already working within them.
The piece highlights our partnership with @CARE , where we digitised savings groups on to our #Chomoka , enabling women who have been informally saving and repaying consistently for years to access formal finance for the first time.
Early pilot results show non-performing loan rates below 2%, demonstrating that the trust built within savings groups can serve as a strong foundation for financial inclusion, rather than a barrier to it.
Thank you, @CARE and the #WorldEconomicForum, for recognizing and amplifying our work.

Happy International Day of Cooperatives!
This year’s theme, “Cooperatives for a Peaceful World,” is a reminder of the vital role cooperatives play in strengthening communities, expanding financial inclusion, and creating lasting opportunities.
Today, we celebrate the SACCOs, microfinance institutions, and savings cooperatives that have chosen #MOBIS, our core banking system, for their operations and those who are yet to. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey.
Together, we’re building stronger institutions, empowering communities, and shaping a more inclusive financial future across Uganda and beyond.
Happy Coops Day!

#TheChomokaEffect In Arua Public Cell, Ayivu Central Division, Arua City, the Oyasuruku Oyadiniku(Neither divided by gender nor religion) Women Group built a culture of saving strong enough to outgrow its own structure. More than 200 women, each running different small businesses, saved collectively, but kept records on paper and stored savings in a box, leading to theft, lost records, and limited accountability.
The turning point came when we introduced the VSLA methodology to them, reorganized the group into six smaller units of 15 to 30 members for easier management, and digitized them onto our Chomoka App platform. This replaced paper with digital records, improving accountability and opening a pathway to formal digital finance they did not have before.
The impact is already visible, four of the six groups received a UGX 1,000,000 starter loan each powered by @UDB_Official which they lent out to their members, who have invested it into growing their businesses and household incomes.
As these groups keep saving and repaying consistently, they are building a digital track record on Chomoka App that will qualify them for progressively bigger credit amounts. Oyasuruku Oyadiniku's journey shows how the right digital innovation can turn informal savings into lasting financial inclusion and economic empowerment.

Yesterday, we sat down with the Equity Bank Limited team to exchange ideas on advancing financial inclusion in Uganda.
Their #EquiMama Loan is a powerful example of what’s possible when financial solutions are intentionally designed, and it mirrors our work in the communities.
