Counterparty risk is when the bookie you placed a future with on the Knicks to win the chip has their entire clientele in New York doing the same thing
European sculptures are obviously impressive, but there’s something about the exaggerated and kinda abstract character of African sculptures that is just so cool.
These sculptures in particular are from 18th to early 20th century Mali.
Been biohacking recently and finally have some good data points:
2 diets cokes on an empty stomach is fine but 3 will make my stomach hurt
2 beers won't fix back pain but 3 will
Uber and Lyft are cool because when else would you share a confined space with a stranger for an extended period of time? And usually the driver is originally from another country so they’ll have an interesting backstory or at least some fun facts about their home country.
I say that bc this morning I had a one-hour drive from the Nashville airport and the driver was a Cuban immigrant named Miorbely. Six years ago he fled Cuba to Columbia with his then one-year-old daughter, and carried her on his back for a week through the Darien Salva jungle before making it to Central America and up through Mexico, where he crossed the border at Rio Bravo. He has a wife (in his phone as simply “Amor”- she called during our trip), an older son (10yrs old), and a daughter (18) still in Cuba that he has been trying to bring over ever since, but he says it’s been difficult. He has a photo of them as his phone background though that he proudly showed me. He works 430am-630pm six days a week (!!), and sends/saves all of his money for his family. Doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t even drink coffee, and smiled literally the whole ride.
Also the whole convo was in Spanish so I would have to keep saying “despaciooo” because he would get so excited and I’d have no idea what he was saying lol
Anyway remember that seemingly mundane uber rides are actually quite unique! Take advantage of them
