Between 2018 and 2021, KIV Steenstrup Nordre Bræ in Greenland retreated 7 km and quadrupled in velocity. It's now in the top 10% of glaciers contributing to Greenland's discharge. Our new paper in Nature Comms: https://t.co/1pfo4b2XJf

The glaciology group at @GeogDurham are hosting the @igsoc Symposium on Ice Streams and Outlet Glaciers on 20-25 July 2025. You can register your interest at the link below, which we'll update with more info soon. Looking forward to seeing you in Durham!❄️https://t.co/4J0xwM6Fnb
A few photos from @scottcrady from our recent field trip to Greenland. We were really lucky to have @scottcrady and @j0erey come and capture our work and there's a lot more to follow. @Bristol_Glac @GeogBristol @AU_CfG @sheffieldgeog @lizbagshaw_ice@ing_ry@TomChudley
We have a fab session planned for you at EGU this year! If you work on ice sheets or glaciers using remote sensing and/or Big Data approaches consider our session. Hopefully see you there!

@realglacier Thanks Mauri! All mélange data courtesy of @Michalea_King. I think it will be really interesting to see what happens if/when the front retreats past the distributary, which will then collapse. No fjord wall on one side = no/less rigid mélange?
Between 2018 and 2021, KIV Steenstrup Nordre Bræ in East Greenland retreated 7 km and quadrupled (!!) in velocity. Read our new preprint >>

It's great fun to be able to play with this data and view Greenland-wide crevasses from ArcticDEM in real time - thanks @StefLhermitte!
I've also made it available to download - see https://t.co/4ZSYCfKsOg
Please RT. PhD students funded by @UKRI_News face a cash crisis. They are working full-time, yet earning less than living wage. With the rising cost of living and increasing pressure to deliver high quality research that benefits society, something needs to change. THREAD (1/10)
@GlacierBytes@JoeMacGregor Yes! I have recently run the (simple) method from my JGR paper (https://t.co/GEoDgivrSf) for the whole of the ice sheet (2 m / 200 m resolution) - but I haven't made any changes for different regions/settings, so caveat emptor..
