@ceoun_o@KyleBarker1981 because after those years, she definitely found a technique that worked for her again that she managed to use mostly consistently. but her voice has changed again since and the technique just kept on getting less consistent
most her technique declining in the years post daydream manifests in a lack of head coordination in her mix, if she’d been taught more about her specific instrument she could’ve adapted to her changing voice instead of subsequently damaging it more:/
@ceoun_o@KyleBarker1981 that’s when her voice was overworked, she was overworked & things around her changed a lot so the stress on her was huge. i feel that led to less stable technique while keeping on singing with nodules, which caused her voice to damage & she couldn’t adapt to that until she rested
The popularization of therapy speak has done enormous collective social damage. Yes, the meltdowns of people with BPD are manipulative, in the same way that it's manipulative to scream for help when you're in danger, or for a person with cancer to post a gofundme. Any attempt
@KyleBarker1981@ceoun_o okay i didn’t say all that-
mariah absolutely was one of the greatest, even technically, it was just more of an accident (some would say a gift) than something you could tell she studied for. i always found that added to the vocals, but you might disagree
@ceoun_o@KyleBarker1981 avoided having to lip sync the climax because it takes so much stress off the voice. chest voice should be used very carefully at those notes if you have a fragile voice type
@ceoun_o@KyleBarker1981 control those ratios of muscle coordination, she could've given the sound more freedom and resonance. you hear the difference in clarity and tonal quality in the clip below compared to that timestamp in honey. this ease in the voice would've also 2/3
@X0ValentineX0 this is a misconception, she said she’s an alto but nothing in her voice except the range point to contralto. a contraltos voice doesn’t soar as it goes higher, have such a bright tone, high tessitura and could never be as agile as mariah’s
@X0ValentineX0 you’re right that her voice would’ve always declined but technique still contributed to it and that shouldn’t be understated, especially with nodules that make it easier to damage your cords in the first place
@ceoun_o@KyleBarker1981 there isn’t “the” proper technique for rnb & pop, there’s approaches that are sustainable and ones that aren’t
hers weren’t sustainable, plus they came instinctively rather than from understanding the mechanisms of her instrument so she couldnt adapt them to be sustainable either
@peak_apple53506 only unprofessionally as a hobby, so i’m usually careful on any analyzing i am not qualified of doing but this all is quite obvious despite the delusional people in the replies disagreeing
@KyleBarker1981 she could’ve definitely developed sustainable technique for rnb and pop but yeah opera is tricky, i feel like her nodules wouldn’t have allowed any of the dynamics necessary
she barely even had dynamics in the music she did sing
one of my neighbors has such a horrible cough it sounds like they’re dying and it also sounds like they’re right next to me please do something about both those issues
