BrainHack Aus is back in 2023! Join us @ USyd Nov 22-24 to collaborate on interesting and fun projects at the nexus of data science and neuroscience. See https://t.co/nHpIuuxfT4 for details and rego. Big thanks to @NIFAus for sponsoring! #BrainHack_Aus@brainhackorg
@Shareefin@ChampionsLeague Don’t think that is the worst idea, seems like a lot of games to still end up with 24 teams. Maybe top 4 through to the quarters, next 8 into round of 16, would up the jeopardy
@MoezPadani@Free_Speech_1A@lexfridman It is because choosing a career in academia is a very idealistic thing to do, when you can almost certainly apply those skills to earn more money in another profession. Therefore, most academics tend to align with left wing thinking
@KevEastSports@LFCTransferRoom@GNev2 I thought it was a penalty when I first saw it back, but just focus on Sancho’s body shape before Trent steps on him. I’m not saying it is intentional but Sancho basically hooks his foot under Trent’s, hardly a “natural” body position
@Banana16Eric I feel if people like Wong and Albanese don’t feel like they can make a stand on Palestine the US must being applying a lot of pressure behind the scenes to toe the line. I think it is a mistake to tear them down as Dutton will be x20 worse
Event: #Brainhack Australia 2024

@AdyLady9969 I’m no expert but I would say this would be true of most large charities. It is just an inefficient way to raise money. What they probably do well is keeping the public attention on the issues so the government actually steps in a provides proper funding
New preprint by Rishi Maran @eli_j_muller
"Analyzing the Brain's Dynamic Response to Targeted Stimulation using Generative Modeling"
A review/perspective on why new mechanisms may be found by modeling brain stimulation dynamics 🧠⚡️

Quick summary 👇
#MediaAlert: Australian-led @MRtrix3 team announced as #EurekaPrizes Finalists
Proud to support #MRtrix3, used by scientists and doctors globally to map brain connections with MRI data - to study and treat disease
Congratulations @jdtournier@Lestropie!

@Arshiya_San@itjohnstone Seems ok, perhaps better than the Mastodon attempt. To be honest I’m finding everything so fragmented on here it is probably better as it is
New version just posted: "Extracting interpretable signatures of whole-brain dynamics through systematic comparison" @AnnieGBryant
(w/ improved null testing, explicit performance comparison, additional robustness checks (including against age/sex, …)

YIKES! Don’t do this. Data from vital registrations - births, deaths, marriages - are crucial to a whole range of data and allocation needs. Privatising this public good is a governance nightmare with major legislative headaches. https://t.co/7S3sHBK9eS
