Yvonne “Missy” Woods is a former forensic analyst and 29-year veteran of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Over her decades-long career, Woods tampered with DNA in around 1,100 cases, 400 of which were the sexual assaults of women and children.

For reasons that cannot be fathomed, Woods reduced or destroyed DNA in rape kits, as well as evidence in multiple homicides. One of the victims was a 4-year-old girl. Another, an 88-year-old woman.

For these crimes, Woods got 10 years.

10. Years.

Her victims? A lifetime of not knowing and not feeling safe.

IMO, she should be charged as complicit in every single case she damaged. For every instance where she deleted a rapist's DNA, she should be charged as complicit in that rape. In every case where she destroyed a murderer's DNA, she should be charged with murder. She aided and abetted monsters she doesn't even know. Unfathomable.
