@empathyx100@atmoio Pure people manager will definitely not survived. A long long time ago when I was at this FAANG company (start with A), I had this manager who’s not technical at all, when I didnt want to work I just bs on the complexity of my works and gave 3x estimation and he had no clue.
@petergyang The problem is family who make 500k+ are still not able to have a decent quality of life if they want to own a home, raise kids, not talking about fancy big houses or private schools. Mentality shift don’t solve the reality. Bay Area is only survivable for duel tech income fam
@pepemoonboy@IncomeSharks They can achieve the same with 5% of their capex spending, you don’t need to build frontier model to solve ads, recommendation problems. They spent that much money on AI because Mark’s ego and market is penalizing them
@ryanhdev@techNmak That’s a bit discouraging, I was a normal software engineer without top 10 CS degrees, not even top 30 nor a PhD. I learned most of the things on X, random blogs and was able clear senior AI Eng role in multiple FANNGs and equivalent
@techNmak 6. If you are a good engineer who know how to build Agentic system, have creative way to generate data, think evaluation, have strong software engineering expertise, excellent comm skills with stakeholders. It’s a perfectly fine career as well.
@techNmak 5. Post-training for majority of the companies today are mostly about data curation and evaluation, and soon it will be a skill democratizing to every engineer. Your creativity to translate business to data is the most important skill.
