Barnsley FC is essentially rotting as a result of a few years of managed decline. The era of watching exciting, high-pressing teams at Oakwell is over, and as such it won’t shock me to see us in the 3rd/4th division of the EFL for a long time. Depressing. #BarnsleyFC

@Georgrundo He had some ready-made L1 superstars, but I think it’s massively understated how much he improved players. Players who have gone on to have great careers. Mowatt, Brown, Pinnock, Potts and Thiam come to mind. I can remember four of those five being written off at BFC!

My heroes in my first three years watching the Reds were Bogdanovic, Hammill and Vaz Te. I really can’t see how the younger generation can cling on to any of this current crop and fall in love with our club. Totally agree with the below sentiment 👇🏻

Joicey, Glavin, Hignett, Hourihane to name a few, we’ve all had our heroes over the years, BUT there wasn’t player on the pitch today who I’d pay to see play. Sad times - fans, particularly the younger ones, need their heroes. THE FANS are the lifeblood of @BarnsleyFC

@ben_iley1510 Not a chance. He and Tommy Wright cracked the formula before he left and ‘Hecky’ got the credit. The team never had the same buzz when Wright was replaced by Jamie Clapham. Just because he’s failed elsewhere doesn’t mean he didn’t do a good job with us.

@mattbfc93 I work with large sets of advanced data everyday, and I have to say - data doesn’t lie. If we can mix outstanding data analysis with a bit more scouting (Pre-Conway style) I think we’ll be onto a winner. Not burying my head in the sand at all, we need to improve as a club.

@mattbfc93 I believe this guy could be the best. Look at his CV and he’s been successful everywhere. An esteemed scholar in psychology, part of Hudds’ survival year in the PL, Leicester’s FA Cup win. Hope this sees us return to being at the forefront of data evolution in the sport again.

@mattbfc93 He’s the sporting director, so you’d have to imagine he’ll be working in tandem with a CEO on the operations side. But yes, I’d imagine through working at 777/Leicester he’s built up strong experience of European football, and will be all set for agents and contracts.
