I am having a drink this evening with a friend in a Chiswick pub. Two policemen have just come into the pub and asked me to step outside. I have stepped outside and they have threatened me because I tweeted about a councillor banning seating outside pubs in Chiswick. They admit on video (watch it!) that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Please, please, please watch this video. It does involve me using very bad language, but this has got to be seen. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.

America’s ruling class has performed another miracle.

They took the most basic truths in human civilization ... crime needs punishment, borders need enforcement, schools should teach, welfare should be temporary, families matter, merit matters, and taxpayers should not be looted by professional parasites ... and somehow rebranded all of that as “extremism.”

Incredible work, really.

Apparently, a “compassionate” society is one where the violent repeat offender gets another chance, the victim gets a candlelight vigil, the taxpayer gets the bill, the schoolkid gets passed along illiterate, the fraudster gets a grant, the NGO gets another contract, the illegal alien gets services, and the working American gets told to shut up and be more inclusive.

What a beautiful system.

Soft justice did not stay in the courtroom. It metastasized. It became soft borders, soft schools, soft parenting, soft welfare, soft standards, soft men, and soft bureaucrats explaining why every obvious solution is “too harsh.”

Lock up predators? Cruel.
Deport illegals? Hateful.
End generational welfare? Lacking empathy.
Punish fraud? Complicated.
Restore merit? Problematic.
Teach kids to read? Probably colonialism by Tuesday.

A serious country protects the innocent from the guilty. A decaying country protects the guilty from consequences and makes the innocent finance the experiment.

That’s America’s real crisis.

Not poverty. Not “root causes.” Not another fake expert panel.

Consequences.

We stopped imposing them on the people destroying the country, so now the country imposes them on everyone else.

Thomas Jefferson died on the 4th of July. Not just any 4th. The exact 50th anniversary of the Declaration he wrote. And on that same day, hundreds of miles away, his old friend and rival John Adams died too. You cannot make this up. Here's the story.

Everyone knows Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence at just 33 years old. Fewer people know the size of the mind behind it.

He was a relentless genius. He taught himself law, architecture, multiple languages, science, and farming. He designed his own home, Monticello, and kept refining it for forty years like he physically could not leave a good idea alone. He tinkered and invented constantly, including a better plow blade that he refused to patent because he believed useful ideas should belong to everyone, not be locked up for profit.

He was a book addict on a scale that's hard to picture today. He owned close to 10,000 books in his lifetime. And when the British burned the Capitol and destroyed the Library of Congress in 1814, Jefferson sold his personal collection of roughly 6,500 volumes to the nation to rebuild it. The Library of Congress today essentially grew back from his bookshelves.

He served as the nation's first Secretary of State, its second Vice President, and its third President. As President he pulled off the Louisiana Purchase, doubling the size of the country in a single stroke, and sent Lewis and Clark to map a continent.

He founded the University of Virginia, designed its buildings himself, and was so proud of it that he asked it to be carved on his tombstone, alongside writing the Declaration and the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom. Not one word about being President. He wanted to be remembered for what he built and what he taught.

And then the ending almost no one learns. He died on July 4, 1826, fifty years to the day after the nation was born. Adams, dying the very same day, reportedly murmured "Thomas Jefferson still survives," not knowing Jefferson had already passed hours earlier.

Two founders, two old rivals turned friends, leaving the world together on the country's golden anniversary.

A 19-year-old Afghan asylum seeker has been sentenced to 2.5 years for raping 5 goats and a lamb near Marseille, France.

One goat died from its injuries.

He was caught in the act by the police in April with pants down, wearing latex gloves, while raping a goat. The owner had installed a CCTV camera after weeks of sexual attacks against his animals.

The Afghan man denied the charges throughout the process and told a psychiatrist that the authorities had made a huge fuss out of nothing as they were just animals.

He also suggested he had only done it to “avoid raping a woman.”

My thoughts after 3 months in the US/Texas🇺🇸:

- Americans are way more extroverted than Europeans
- Talking to strangers is normal here
- My first H-E-B trip felt like Boris Yeltsin seeing an American grocery store
- Some food is more artificial, but the amount of choices is insane
- You can still eat healthy. You just have to choose it
- High risk, high reward is real
- Way more people are entrepreneurial
- People dream bigger than in Europe, and they actually execute
- Obv not everyone is smarter, but the smart people are world-class
- Successful people here are way more down-to-earth. In Europe, successful people care about status and can be arrogant
- Cars. Enough said
- Americans have perfected artificial sweets
- There’s still more freedom here than in Europe
- One thing I didn’t expect: some Americans talk down on America
- As an outsider, that’s weird, because imo it’s still the greatest country on Earth🇺🇸🇺🇸
