When you published this interview this month, Jannica aka @DataRepublican was working as a Special Government Employee with the US Department of War. She wrote, published, and monetized extensive content on X thereafter.

In the interview she concealed her SGE status, did she not?

This was material information imo. She repeatedly framed herself as independent, working from home.

As you well know, framing yourself as “independent” conveys objectivity. It lends itself to credibility. I use this very term in my profile because I truly am independent.

But were I to become an SGE, I’d lose that independence. My employer would require me to curate my published work to meet the organizational goals of my employer. Thus, I’d no longer be “independent”.

Were my platform monetized, and were I making thousands per month via subscribers, imo I would have a legal and ethical duty to inform my readers of my SGE status. I’d be selling a “product” (content) premised on my “independent” analyses bc it conveys credibility. Hiding this material change would be misrepresenting.

Independence was likely a primary basis for @datarepublican’s success on these platforms. Maybe that’s why she emphasized it repeatedly in your interview? Because of it, plus other factors, people reasonably relied on her representations & analyses. IMO It could be a deceptive trade practice to have concealed it.

Are you representing that you did not know she was misrepresenting herself? Or did you know?

What is your position now? She’s a nice person, a good mom & daughter, so she deserves grace from judgment ?

Why don’t we just admit facts, and end the charade. wouldn’t that be best for her ? It’s not exactly a nuanced dilemma. I understand you like her. But this is deeply troubling given the state of our country. We are tired of deception. We are disgusted by propagandist manipulating.
