@the_autopian Solid take. The generator parts of PHEVs need to be simpler, cheaper, smaller and more efficient, which won't happen until they become the volume choice (probably soon). Off the shelf engines are not optimized for this duty cycle.

@davidreevely The beauty of this solution is it tends to slow all traffic down without loads of enforcement. Add separate multiuse lanes, or even parking. Building wide, straight roads then slapping a slow speed limit on it is always going to create issues.

@jen_keesmaat "Doesn't understand" is generous. The whole point of the scandal is that people were able to buy land that could NOT be developed on the cheap, then use political influence to get the zoning changed so that land could be developed -- making it many times more valuable.

@mattgurney I think you (via The Line) nailed it when you wrote that, at his core, Ford is a salesman who sees politics as 'doing deals'. Two challenges: he does deals with a limited group of 'folks' (eg property developers) and he doesn't know what to do when that approach doesn't work.

@P_Kallioniemi @HeberdenMarc @elonmusk People who advocate for radical free speech use the same rhetoric as those who advocate for free markets and minimal regulation. The end result of both tends to concentrate power among the few. Dynamic markets also need trust, transparency and competition.
