I’ll defend this movie to my dying day. No one is taking this from me.
It’s a brilliant, fun movie. Fuck box office, just watch and enjoy, either in cinema or streaming.
Okay, I just watched this movie.
I am MAGA
I am Gen X
I am Male, Married, and Straight
I have the toys, I watched original TV show
With that said, here's is my take.
If you liked the Original Cartoon, this will hit home with you
If you have been on the fence about going to see this, get out and see it.
It really is solid fan service to the original cartoon, It does poke fun at itself, and that gets old fast, I'll admit to that, it's a gag that, should have been a one shot wonder, that the writers didn't realize how trite that got real quick. It circles itself a bit, and the pacing feels, awkward, and the jokes don't always land, but, that feels more intended then a mistake, like they were trying to make this cartoonish, in a live action.
This felt like a Origin story, which , truth be told, He-Man the cartoon really didn't have, so that is something to keep in mind, it has that buildup.
Leto, owned Skeletor, no argument to everyone that
Galitzine put a solid role into He-Man, the set up of being a urban Gen Z man, knowing that this was never meant to be his life
and I think that is really where the confusion comes from if this Movie is Woke or Not.
This movie, does an amazing job, of dealing with what it might be like for a modern emasculated Gen Z male in todays western society, being transported back to a time where positive masculinity was admired as being heroic, in many ways, this movie is showing a young modern man what it's like a return to home of what it means to be a man again, after dealing with a world that's been designed to resent men, and function against them.
So if you were wondering if this will be a good watch, as someone who was also on the fence, thanks to Woke crapping all over other franchise, I will say, this one, should restore your faith in good faith productions
It's a great move by any means, it has a lot of flaws, but, it's worth the go.
