It's in Android closed testing now, and I'm looking for a few gentle monitors — people who'll just live with it and tell me how it feels. If you'd like a garden of your own, you can join here → https://t.co/jKYJs3qDQF
I'll be building the rest of this out loud.
And the part I care about most: every bird you meet joins a gentle radio — real songs singing over soft, healing sound, fuller each time you meet a new one. It never shrinks. Listening is always free, and always will be. No paywall on calm.
The second real thing: *why* a bird comes. I don't invent reasons. Which bird arrives follows a real food web — plants call insects, plants and insects call birds — seeded from GloBI (Global Biotic Interactions), from real records. Play long enough and you quietly learn the web.
Two things had to be *real*, or it wouldn't be worth making. The songs are real field recordings from xeno-canto (a community archive of wild bird sound), always with the recordist credited. Every voice you hear was recorded by a real person, somewhere outside.
So the idea: don't hand people a garden to tend on a timer. Give them a small biome. Plant a little, walk away, live your day — and when you come back, a bird may have arrived while you were gone. You just listen to who showed up.
My day job is management accounting at a large company in Japan — spreadsheets, not games. But I kept wanting something to *listen to* while I worked: not a playlist, something alive. A little world that keeps its own time even when the screen is off.
