It's a "lazy pattern" that, once normalized, almost forces a certain way of thinking.

But in a healthy environment, we can reflect and say "wait a minute, this too much". Kids can do the same.

Perhaps it is better to focus on what kind of person you'd like to have in your future. Once that is clear, it becomes easier to determine where to look.

Have some faith
I think the biggest challenge the west is facing right now is its inability to allow natural selection to run it's course.
Allow bigger consequences for stupid actions to exist and people will pick up the slack real fast.
Those born with autism, ADHD and other mental "anomalies" experience massive gaslighting by society.
But those who can rise above that will have a level of robustness instilled in them on a level that is impossible to comprehend for most.
