But Schröder is exactly that type of player on paper, and every time he shares the floor with Donovan, they still get outplayed.
At this point, I think Donovan’s decision-making might be the bigger issue. Too many pull-up threes at the wrong moments, followed by forced passes that lead to turnovers.
He honestly needs to work more on his off-ball movement. His best half of the playoffs came when Harden was orchestrating everything and Donovan was constantly moving without the ball.
Dear Kenny Atkinson
Your rotations are a big reason this series has gone this far in the first place, and now the team is on the brink of getting swept.
The constant 3- and sometimes 4-guard lineups have been a disaster. Giving Schröder this many minutes despite bad performances outside of Game 5 vs Toronto has been hard to justify. At the same time, players like Tyson never really seem to get consistent trust.
It also feels like adjustments come too late, and momentum swings are not being stopped when they need to be.
I’m sure you made the Knicks really proud as a New Yorker.
I hope you enjoy retirement next year.
