🚨 Attention dog lovers 🚨

Major is a Belgian Malinois service dog.

He has spent more than 545 days alone in an isolation kennel at the Austin Animal Center.

No walks.

No pets.

No people.

Now the city wants to put him down.

Here's what happened:

* March 2025, a pickup truck hit Major.

* He was hurt and in pain, and a woman who stopped to help tried to lift him into a car.

* He bit her.

* A municipal judge ordered him euthanized as a danger to the public.

* His human, Shane Lilly, has fought it through the Texas Supreme Court ever since.

Now a federal judge has put the euthanasia on hold and is expected to decide within days whether an independent trainer can evaluate Major for rehabilitation.

More than 54,000 people have signed the petition to free him.

An injured dog snapped while a stranger was moving him.

After a year and a half in solitary, Austin's answer is a needle?

A blaring example of the abject mismanagement of the prison system. *Why* (WHY) was the same idiot who botched a previous execution still allowed to do them??? A clear policy is needed going forward stating should the execution fail due to their incompetence, *no lifesaving efforts will be used in the aftermath." Further, 1) a competent professional must evaluate the integrity of the vein(s) to be accessed at 48 and 24 hours prior to the execution and provide IV pre-hydration or insert a central line if needed (in her case she allegedly refused any hydration for at least a day before the execution); and 2) if executions are performed in the facility there must be a unit within the facility assigned to place the prisoner until such time as they finally die.

She would have died without the lifesaving care provided in this case. Now they are going to need a court order to withdraw life support. As a nurse I can tell you I refuse to so to clean up the mess they made. Beyond unacceptable. The idiot that botched it should have to come and extubate her and sit with her until she passes. Then they should lose their license. So should the idiot who failed at inserting the central line.
