1/ Just wrapped a conversation with university continuing education deans and directors from across Canada, hosted by CAUCE. A few thoughts to leave here.
6/ The reskilling demand ahead is national in scale. Some institutions have deep strengths others do not. If we cannot develop and deliver collectively, at national scale, that gap will be filled by those who can.
@SteveOrsini@SteveOrsini The work you and the COU are doing to elevate this conversation is exactly the kind of leadership this moment calls for. Universities have a real window here, and it matters enormously that voices like yours are pushing the agenda forward.
The reskilling market in Canada may be worth $12B+ in 10 years. It has dozens of players: platforms, bootcamps, colleges.
If Canadian universities want their share, it may be worth $1B+ within 5 years.

This past Friday, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, @stevenmackinnon visited Achēv’s Mississauga headquarters to announce an investment of over $75 million through the Sustainable Jobs Training Fund. The investment will support eight projects across all regions of Canada, providing training opportunities for more than 10,000 Canadian workers & helping them gain the expertise needed for jobs in electric vehicle maintenance, green buildings and retrofits, low-carbon energy, and carbon management.
Achēv’s own project, “EVolveSkills: Empowering Tomorrow’s Automotive Workforce Today!” is a collaborative initiative along with our partners @isans_ca, @DIVERSEcityBC, @PlugN_Drive, @myVCC, @NSCCNews, @MohawkCollege, @durhamcollege, @sheridancollege, and multiple stakeholders in the Automotive Industry spanning Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
Thanks to the Government of Canada’s investment, EvolveSkills will equip the workforce of small and medium-sized enterprises with the skills necessary to repair and maintain electric vehicles. Over the next three years, over 1,000 individuals will receive training, helping create pathways for a sustainable and skilled workforce for the EV sector.
