@NationalDeafCtr Hi I’m Traci, I work for VR in Virginia. I work as a Pre-Employment/Transition Counselor (Pre-ETS) with deaf students and also provide statewide technical assistance to other counselors (on any deaf/Pre-ETS issues).
Q1: Students have grown up using technology in their lives. Studies show it can increase motivation to learn. Have you used Deafverse or other games with your students? What were the outcomes? #DeafSuccess#ChooseYourFuture
@weeksman4@NationalDeafCtr Hey Charles, just now having a chance to ‘read’ over the comments! (I’ve only used Twitter a handful of times so I’m still learning)...Are you talking about the DSAT?
A6. I can't attest to the effectiveness but I'd like to see more diversity training that's done within large organizations include information about Deaf Culture and ASL. Most training is done with an ADA compliance lens. I'm not sure that moves things forward. #DeafSuccess
@TiaIvanko This is so true. I have found that developing relationship with employers is key—usually beginning long before you bring in the student. Networking is so important. #deafsuccess
@burtonmotion Yes, this is a good example. Showing Deaf how to have VP on iPhones, iPads and how to effectively use interpreters through VRS. #deafsuccess
