We paid a monitoring visit to Kochifa PHC, Yelwa ward, Mubi North LGA, Adamawa state and saw that the facility is in need of urgent renovation.
The walls of the building are cracked and peeling, the water system is not functional, the toilet has been abandoned. The ceilings are cracked and whenever it rains, the wards and patient area gets flooded.
We implore the @NphcdaNG and the @Fmohnigeria to facilitate the urgent renovation of this facility.
Residents are unable to access proper medical care because of the current state of things at the centre.

Access to information is important, and initiatives like FreeTV can help bridge the information gap for millions of Nigerians.
However, access to television means little to citizens who live under the constant fear of insecurity. It is people who are at peace, safe in their homes and communities, that can comfortably sit in front of their TVs to access information, education, and entertainment.
As the government expands access to digital broadcasting, equal attention must be given to securing lives and properties. Across many parts of the country, families are more concerned about kidnappings, terrorist attacks, banditry, and the safety of their communities than the availability of television channels.
Development works best when it is holistic. Citizens need access to information, but they also need safe roads, secure communities, functional schools, and protected livelihoods.
A secure Nigeria is not just a policy objective, it is the foundation upon which every other intervention can succeed.
🚨 Over N39.8m Paid, Yet No Projects on Ground in Abia Communities
Our tracking activities in Abia State uncovered two FG-funded projects where contractors received a combined N39.8m in mobilization payments, yet no work had commenced as of today.
📍 N12.98m to Bavian Vogue Ltd for the reconstruction of Ahiankwo Market in Okpoloumuobo Ward 10, Osisioma Ngwa LGA.
📍 N26.85m to Bellevue Investments Ltd for the construction of a Health Centre at Osusu Umuelendu, Ward 4, Ugwunagbo LGA.
According to https://t.co/1b9IJVu1Oe records, all payments were made on 31 March 2026, yet our visits to the communities revealed no contractor presence, no site mobilization, and no evidence of project execution.
The affected communities remain without the market infrastructure, civic hall, and healthcare facility promised through public funds. In Osusu Umuelendu, a community of over 2,000 residents still lacks a health centre and relies on temporary healthcare services.
Even more concerning, these projects were assigned to Federal Cooperative College, Orji River, an institution whose core mandate does not include the construction of markets, civic halls, or primary healthcare centres.
This raises important questions:
❓ Why are projects unrelated to the agency's mandate being routed through it?
❓ Why have mobilization funds been paid without visible project execution?
❓ What accountability mechanisms are in place to protect public funds?
We urge the @NG_AbiaState, @officialEFCC, @icpcnigeria, and the National Assembly Committees on Public Accounts to investigate why public funds have been disbursed while communities are yet to see corresponding project delivery.
Citizens must also pay attention not only to budget allocations but also to who is implementing projects and whether those projects align with the mandate of the agencies handling them.

N4 BILLION SPENT ON RAIL PROJECTS IN BORNO, BUT WHERE ARE THE RAILS?
Borno State's 2025 Budget Implementation Report claims that N2 billion was fully spent on the Construction of Rail Projects in MMC LGA and another N2 billion on the construction of Rail Projects in Jere LGA, bringing the total reported expenditure to N4 billion, with both projects recorded as 100% implemented.
However, in May 2026, our tracking activities at both locations, based on the findings, told a different story.
At the Maiduguri Railway Terminus and across the rail corridors visited in MMC and Jere LGAs, we found old, rusted, abandoned, and deteriorating rail infrastructure. There was no visible evidence of recently completed rail construction or rehabilitation works, no active construction sites, no contractor presence, and no project signage indicating that N4 billion worth of projects had been executed.
Community members also reported that they could not recall any recent major rail construction activities within the affected areas.
@ProfZulum, the Ministry of Transport and Energy, and relevant authorities owe the people of Borno State answers.
* What exactly was the N4 billion spent on?
* Who were the contractors?
* Where are the completed rail projects reflected in the 2025 Budget Implementation Report?
* Why does the physical reality not appear to align with the reported 100% implementation status?
We call on the @BornoGovt, State House of Assembly, @officialEFCC, and @icpcnigeria to investigate these projects and provide clarity on the utilization of public funds.
Again, this is another reminder that it is a must for citizens to pay closer attention to state budgets.
Accountability should not end with budget releases; it must extend to verifying what is actually delivered on the ground.

🚨 A PHC Meant to Serve Over 2,000 People Has Been Left in Ruins in Abia
Otuobi PHC in Umuokiri Community, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Abia is currently unable to provide quality healthcare services due to the devastating effects of vandalization that occurred in 2024.
According to the Officer-in-Charge, the facility lost most of its equipment and now lacks basic essentials including:
❌ Mattresses
❌ Vaccination freezers
❌ Toilet facilities
❌ Water supply
❌ Electricity
This is a health facility serving more than 2,000 residents, yet it is struggling to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
We call on Gov @alexottiofr, @NG_AbiaState, Hon. Chidi Chris Agu, Abia State Ministry of Health, and relevant authorities to prioritize the revitalization of Otuobi PHC and restore essential health services to the people of Umuokiri.
At the same time, we urge community members to protect public infrastructure. Vandalizing public facilities only deprives our communities of critical services and undermines collective development.
Public facilities belong to all of us. Let's protect them, preserve them, and hold government accountable for maintaining them.
🗣️BudgIT Marks 2026 Federal Budget as Ambitious but Unviable
BudgIT has raised significant concerns over the Federal Government’s 2026 Budget, describing it as ambitious but unrealistic and, within the current fiscal realities, not feasible. The approved budget of N68.32 trillion is the largest in Nigeria’s history, yet nearly half of it depends on borrowing.

We paid monitoring visits to PHC Gabi, Lapai LGA, Niger state and met it in shambles.
A section of the ceiling is leaking, allowing water to enter during rainfall, the walls are mold infested and the windows are bad.
We also observed that a borehole project started 4 years ago has been abandoned. And although the facility is connected to the public water supply, it is not reliable.
We implore the @NphcdaNG, the @Fmohnigeria, and the @NGSMoh, to facilitate the renovation of this facility.
We paid monitoring visits to PHC Duma, Lapai LGA, Niger state and observed that the condition of the facility had improved compared to our visit in 2025.
The facility has been fully upgraded to a Level II PHC and commenced operations in September 2025.
However, the landscaping of the compound still needs to be done.
We implore the @NphcdaNG, to look into this and facilitate the landscaping of this facility.
In Dec 2022, N12.4m was paid to BUO Hedge IT Experts Ltd for the Construction of Solar-Powered Borehole in Karshi, Nasarawa State.
We tracked and report that the borehole was constructed in 2023 but has now developed faults and stopped functioning.
Despite efforts of the community to repair the borehole, it is still nonfunctional at the time of our visit.
Some of the materials used appear to be of low quality and one of the solar panels is already damaged.
We call on @OfficialNCFRMI, the implementing agency to facilitate the repair of this project.
Why should people die from preventable illnesses and pregnant women transported on motorcycles to other communities, when a health facility was constructed??
In 2019, a health facility was constructed at Pabiri Community in Kuje Area Council, FCT under the FCT Community and Social Development Project, and since then, this facility has not been opened for use.
Community members reported that immediately after the commissioning of the facility, it was abandoned and locked. No healthcare personnel was deployed to manage or operate the centre.
During our visit, we witnessed a disturbing situation where a pregnant woman in labour had to be transported on a motorcycle to another community about 5km away for medical assistance.
Community members have also narrated several cases of deteriorating health cases due to lack of access to timely treatment and incidents of avoidable deaths resulting from delays in accessing medical care.
We implore the office of @GovWike, the @Fmohnigeria, @NphcdaNG, to facilitate the immediate renovation, equipping and staffing of this facility for use.
