Food (in)security is for real in #Vancouver. When legacy businesses like Kent’s Kitchen in #chinatownYVR closes its doors, it’s not just about the noodles, but the low-income seniors and folks in the #dtes who benefit from the affordable prices & community-feeding portions.

@thenetworkhub @sarahblyth Many of the Chinatown seniors are not (or not yet) eligible for govt subsidies / benefits,therefore rely on food services in the DTES. Perhaps a govt subsidized food coupon system can be worked out where they can trade in their coupon for a rice box at Kent's Kitchen or Kam Wai

Harold Johnson, our #Chinatownyvr Security Guard, saw this tribute today and it put a big smile on his face. Thanks Smokey D for your thoughtfulness! Harold will be leaving his post at the end of this week, give him a salute if you see him on the streets.

@thenetworkhub @lorrainelowe_ @CityofVancouver We call Embers (Chinatown Stewardship) for non conflict situations. For conflicts, we call Security or police. Embers has been good so far, I call them every so often and they show up within minutes
