@BreeSolstad Now, I'm not going to PROMOTE eating meat on Fridays, but if a Catholic chooses to do another form of penance besides abstaining from meat (which the Church allows), then I'm not going to fault them for it.

For many people, not eating meat isn't a sacrifice.

A husband's authority in a household is to be a sacrificial authority where he lays down his own desires for the good of his wife.

@afx4488 @BreeSolstad Our parish has OCIA classes year around. Also, because of his traveling schedule, he could have been meeting one-on-one with a priest or teacher (if he was in OCIA in the first place). This is what I had to do when I entered the Catholic Church 26 years ago.

@BreeSolstad Gosh, people! Bree is not saying that we shouldn't give to the homeless on the street or help them. She is just saying to give in other ways than giving them money.

We all agree on helping the homeless. The disagreement is just on exactly HOW to help them.

@theAlexHos_ @EricRSammons I would disagree with you. Scripture is clear that the order that God created was for man to be with woman. To have SSA is thus disordered.

This does not mean that God does not love those with SSA, or that we aren't to love them, so don't try to play that card.

@theAlexHos_ @EricRSammons Although SSA itself is not a sin, it is disordered, in that it is not in accordance to how God created man to be.

I personally do not think it is wise to have a man in the priesthood who accepts and embraces what is a disorder. He needs help... not ordination.

@ShaneSchaetzel In some situations that would be hard. Take, for example, Kanas City, MO and Kansas City, KS.

These two cities sit side-by-side, and their businesses are intertwined closely. What if one state decided one way, and the other state decided the opposite?

What could he have actually done outside of the confessional about what was shared with him? Nothing.

@BreeSolstad As I commented on your other post, instead of taking one sentence of Pope Leo XIV's homily out of context, why don't we read the whole thing? If we do this, we will see that he never denied the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish. It's actually a good homily.
