@LoveRetroBTW Before Soul Blade came out, we were graced with this beauty. IMHO, this was a 3D spiritual successor to Samurai Showdown but evolved into its own IP:
Here's the core issue with that take, IMHO.
If someone is a true-blue activist, why the hell would you want them developing games for a studio that's trying to make games for gamers instead of pushing agendas? They're not going to magically stop injecting their ideology just because you hired them. It’s what they do. They’re not going to suddenly become neutral.
If I ran a company that decided to stop pandering to the woke crowd and actually focus on making good games again, and one of those people was on the team, the rule would be simple: get on board with the new direction or you’re gone. I don’t care how that makes them feel. I don’t care how it makes anyone else feel. We’re here to make games, not host activism.
Here’s an analogy (and yeah, some people will probably call it racist — I don’t give a shit):
I don’t want a Mexican guy, a White guy, or anyone who didn’t grow up in Asian culture as the head chef of an authentic Asian restaurant. It doesn’t matter how talented they are or how well they can follow a recipe book. Without that cultural foundation and lived experience, they’re not going to have the soul for it. They’ll make something that looks Asian on the surface but misses the mark.
Sous chefs, line cooks, dishwashers? Hire whoever’s best for the job. But the person setting the direction and guarding the vision needs to actually understand and believe in it.
Same thing with game studios. If a company wants to rebrand and move away from the woke bullshit, bring in a solid, grounded lead dev who gets it and is willing to call the shots. Give the rest of the team one more chance to fall in line. But the second you get any sniff of the old activist mindset that doesn’t match the new direction? They’re gone. Good riddance.
I want woke ideology out of gaming. Period. But I’m willing to give people a real chance to drop it and actually do the work. If they can’t, they don’t belong there.
Well sorry, maybe they found value, but I did not. First one was amazing, there was zero reason to make a sequel with a fugly female protagonist. Not to mention this is who they modeled the character after. Yeah sorry, the people who produced this game had an agenda. Fuck the game and the company who made it. I don’t give a flying fuck if millions of people enjoyed it, to each their own. The game is woke garbage and I don’t want anything to do with it. Regardless, I respect your opinion, but doesn’t mean I agree with it. 🤠
@catturd2 Well I would argue that Close Encounters of the Third Kind is almost as good and is a close second for me. When you look at the grand design of Encounters, it truly was a masterpiece in filmmaking.🤠
The mess hall scene in ALIENS when Bishop is doing the knife thing on Hudson. If you watch closely, you will see all they did was speed up the film because you see all the marines in the background laughing in 10x speed. Love the movie, but I always thought that was lazy of the production to not hide that better.
