Tried out an Instructor Rean costume I’d ordered during the pandemic.

Not awful, a bit narrow around the shoulders. So I have a bit better of an idea of what size I should order when ordering from those Asian cosplay sites.

Worth noting the white marble statues of antiquity might have actually looked like giant Nintendo amiibo, given paint residues.

I get it. For some folks, Helen of Troy being black just seems obviously wrong. "Greek people aren't black!"

Well, sure. But almost nobody in any filmed version of the Odyssey was Greek, and none of you lot cared.

"But they were white! And Greeks are white!"

So?

Ok, believing in a giant cyclops is no problem, but you can't believe in a black woman playing a role? I think you're telling the truth, but audiences don't agree. All across the world, people are watching the movie, and most of them aren't having a problem buying Lupita Nyong'o as Helen (and Clytemnestra). This argument only works for a grumpy minority.

"They wouldn't cast an all-white Roots!"

You're right about that, but c'mon, don't you see the difference? Roots is specifically ABOUT race and slavery. The Odyssey is about a hero trying to make it home and retake his throne. Race is not a topic.

"Race-switching in roles only goes one way!"

For a long time, that was true in the other direction (John Wayne as Genghis Khan!), but it's true that generally these days it's non-white actors replacing traditionally white roles.

And so? This isn't really an argument. And I think it'd be good if we did more color-blind casting in every direction, assuming we can sell audiences on them (and I think we mostly can).

Focus less on race, more on the stories!

@wafflesOmega I liked it when I thought of it as just a playground to use all the Erebonia and Crossbell party members, but thought the plot was not very interesting.

Interesting.

As others have noted this probably requires digital ownership (although maybe disc-to-digital takes care of it?), and for OG Xbox games that have no achievements, why not just emulate them, but as and when Xbox 360 games are added, this’ll get very interesting.

I generally think the main response to teams like this should be “thank you”.

My PS3 library is more or less complete (for games I want to play), and my unmodified PS3 Slim and Super Slim are functional, but there’ll come a day when I need the emulator to just work.

@bouch3ar55727 We already don't have enough people contributing with game reports to maintain the current statuses fully up-to-date. Adding even more statuses is currently not feasible.

Furthermore, note that no other game console emulation project has a status between Ingame and Playable.

I’ll say it — I’d have liked FFXV and FFXVI a whole lot more if they’d had FFVII Remake/Rebirth’s combat system.

We haven’t read William Lyon Mackenzie or the signatories of the Annexation Manifesto in Montreal out of Canadian history. One of the latter even later became a Tory PM. (And the former had a grandson…)

That said I wouldn’t force compliance on booze on Alberta or Saskatchewan.

Provinces can make their own choices and I wouldn’t want to put those two premiers in a tougher spot — we need to spend their capital on trade issues elsewhere.

The Trump administration’s deliberate destruction of the U.S.-Canada relationship will have lasting consequences that many Americans probably do not yet recognize amid the administration’s many other destructive actions.

Canadians feel profoundly betrayed by this president, and their trust in both the United States and the American people has understandably declined.

I have preordered NHL 27 for PS5.

They provided enough that I’m ordering it now instead of 60% off in January.

We’ll see whether it’ll prove to be worth it.

Happened to me too back in February.

Starting to think it’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

That said successfully rolled credits after I reloaded, and I was powerful enough that it wasn’t a huge chore to beat the final boss battles a second time.

Got a free PS1 memory card from a friend. Apparently it was his uncles or smth. Basically the only save on it was FF7. And it had some very interesting character names 😭😭

When people say they're going to stop buying PS5 physical games to boycott Sony... doesn't that just give Sony even more justification to end physical disc production?

I've been seeing this sentiment a lot lately and I can't help but side-eye it.
